Suvarnamitra And Their “Joy Therapy” 19th May 2014, by AnimalCare
My friend, Kon, and his wife are part of the Suvarnamitra group, a group of people committed to provide assistance to and bring cheer to the elderly.
Joy is a poodle they rescued (took over from the previous owner). Joy was in pretty bad shape when Kon and family took her, but is now a bubbly, happy and much-loved pet.
Hillary is Kon’s daughter and she and her friends formed the Kinabalu-4, the group of teens who scaled Mt Kinabalu (led by Kon) and raised RM16,000 for AnimalCare in 2012.

Priorities In Life 19th May 2014, by AnimalCare
Although the above is about humans, specifically on couples, I think we can apply it to all relationships, especially the ones with the animals under our care.
If our animals are sick or terminal, let’s not opt for the easy way out by “throwing them away”. Fix them or if that’s not possible, then give them palliative care. We owe them that much, don’t we?

Oscar Had A Bath Yesterday! 18th May 2014, by AnimalCare
Connie gave Oscar a bath yesterday!
He looks so clean and bright, doesn’t he?
Not at all like Oscar of Sesame Street anymore!
Previous photos (before bath):
Me wants food, me wants food!
Yum yum food!!
I asked Connie if Oscar struggled during his inaugural bath and she said no. Her steps were:
1. Pick up cat.
2. Put cat in sink.
3. Run the water.
4. Shampoo cat.
5. Rinse cat.
6. Dry with towel.
DONE!
Cat is happy and handsome.
Connie thinks it’s because she raised Oscar like a ...

When Bunny Comes Out… 18th May 2014, by AnimalCare
Everyone was chilling out on the Carebears Blankie when…
Bunny was let out (under supervision).
Timmy had already fled, leaving only the two who think the whole world is good.
Mother, Daffodil, comes in to keep watch.
Bunny’s tour is under our watchful eyes.
We will grab him the very moment he shows any signs of wanting to attack.
This is what Bunny normally does on his trips out – he rubs his chin on everywhere to claim territory.
Don’t worry, Daffodil, we̵...

When Mercury Aligns With Mars… 18th May 2014, by AnimalCare
I remember this song “Aquarius” from my childhood. The lyrics go like this:
When the Moon is in the seventh house,
When Jupiter aligns with Mars;
Then peace will guide the planets,
And love will steer the stars…
This is the dawning of the
Age of Aquarius…
And it goes on…
So it means that when Jupiter aligns with Mars, we will have peace and love?
What happens when Mercury aligns with Mars then?
Well….looks like Mercury aligned with Mars, at least at my house!

SAY NO TO BACKYARD BREEDERS
Adult animals are kept in confined spaces, continuously bred until they can no longer produce, then destroyed or discarded.
HOW CAN I HELP?
1. Ask many questions. A reputable breeder will show you where the dogs spend their time and introduces you to the puppy's parents.
2. Adopt your pet from SSPCA. We have over 300 homeless animal in need of a family and lots of love! Show your support by giving them a second chance.

Say NO To Backyard Breeders 18th May 2014, by SPCA Sarawak
What is a Backyard Breeder?Commercial breeding facilities that mass-produce dogs (and cats in cat mills) for sale through pet stores, or directly to consumers through classified ads or the Internet. Many retailers (i.e. pet stores) who buy animals from such facilities take the wholesaler's word that the animals are happy and healthy without seeing for themselves.Animals from Backyard Breeders are treated like Cash Crops. They are confined to squalid, overcrowded cages with minimal shelter fro...

Chapline performing in Selangor

Alrig ht. Stop laughing at my moustache. Is there any wonder as to why I am named after one of the world's greatest comedians?
But yeah, I'm a pretty little moustachy girl, so an "e" after the Chaplin makes me more feminine. I hope.
I can make you laugh till you cry every day. Without even trying. Just by looking at me. Meow.

WHO Rained Urine On Me?? Poor Tabs… 18th May 2014, by AnimalCare
Oh yes, I’ve been sprayed on before – by Cow, Bunny and even Indy (the top three sprayers). I’d like to think it’s because they wanted to claim ownership and not because they are angry at me, or something like that.
Since we don’t know for sure, why not think positively, right?
Spraying is the marking of territory, hence, it is the claiming of ownership, which isn’t such a bad thing, isn’t it? It’s better than a cat wants to OWN you rather than run...

A Long Hairball From Indy 18th May 2014, by AnimalCare
Indy asked for umpteen suppers last night, as though to make up for missing breakfast in the morning when he had a fever. That was a good sign so we indulged him.
Eating is better than not eating, isn’t it?
This morning, I gave him his Clavomox. The vet says the best is to give it 2 hours before meals for optimum absorption. If that’s not possible, just before meals is also acceptable.
Then, it was breakfast for everyone and Indy devoured his Monge.
After about fifteen minutes, he vo...
