Our Masked Hero Springs Into Action….again!
3rd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare

This morning there was suddenly a loud thump on the roof in the pantry. Within milliseconds, our brave masked hero was already on the ledge and had identified the intruder. Oh, hello there…I’ve seen you around, Mr Cat. But Indy was really, really angry and was already clawing at the polycarb, wanting to tear it down. I was worried Indy might just do that, so I took the water hose and sprayed at their direction, without causing anyone to get wet. Mr Cat went away, but….not t...

Ginger’s Rooftop Expeditions Take A New Direction
3rd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare

For the past two days, we noticed that Ginger seemed to have found a new roofway to widen his explorations. Yesterday, he still wasn’t back for dinner by 6.45pm and that’s when I raised the alarm and went out to the garden to call him. Little did I know I was calling towards the wrong side. He had gone to the other neighbour now. As always, my yardstick is Daffodil. If Daffodil is not unduly worried, I guess Ginger would be safe. My husband went to the playground to get a better view...

2nd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare

Tabs gets to play in the garden on certain mornings when I don’t need to go to work early, especially in the mornings. Today was such a day. While the PatioCats were having breakfast… …Tabs wanted to come out to play. She is always excited to hear the sound of birds chirping. Wow..a whole playground out there to explore!! But we cannot take the risk, Tabs. Once you go out, you will always want to go out and that’s not a safe place for you. Tabs has this habit of wan...

Mercy For Animals’ Vegan Sandwiches
2nd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare

For those who need variety in their meat-free food, here are some ideas: http://www.chooseveg.com/6-vegan-sandwiche s-to-rock-your-world For me, personally, my favourite sandwich would consist of just tomato, lettuce, cucumber and thin slices of carrot with wholemeal bread. That would be enough. And you could sprinkle some olive oil to give it a more balanced constitution, if you like. Go meatless whenever you can, save animals. You may not have the time to go out and save streets cats and d...

Happy Ending For Senior Dog Who Walked 30 Miles Home Only To Be Turned Away
2nd Aug 2014, by SPCA Singapore

We are sharing here a heartbreaking tale of a Senior Dog (a sweet black Labrador named “Ma Kettle”) in the U.S., who walked back 30 MILES to the family that gave her up, only to get rejected again! This dog’s first, elderly owner passed away in 2012, and was taken to an animal shelter in Kansas. Then, an adopting family took an interest in her, and took her home. However the dog’s joy is short-lived. This is because that family acquired a few puppies and found the dog not favourable to ...

Sigh! Fire Crackers….
1st Aug 2014, by AnimalCare

I guess one of the most worrying things for caregivers of community animals during festive seasons is the fire crackers. My vet used to tell me that during festive seasons, the number of sick animals increase because they are stressed out by the fire crackers. The loud noise is very unnerving for the animals because they do not understand where the sound comes from. Just now, there was a burst of fire crackers in my neighbourhood. Ginger and Rosie were helping me with the sewing, but the momen...
