Yet another community cat’s life, from the Beach Road vicinity, has been taken. The latest feline victim, known to be a friendly, chubby cat, was found dead on the grass patch in front of the North Bridge Road power substation, last Saturday (26 July).
The cat feeders and caretakers from Beach Road, along with Cat Welfare Society (CWS) and SPCA, are urgently appealing for witnesses whom may identify the culprit(s) responsible for the necessary action to be taken against.

Happy Tails From SPCA! 30th Jul 2014, by SPCA Selangor
WENDY'S STORY
This girl was adopted two weeks ago! She was surrendered to the SPCA, and at the time her fur was very matted and dirty. She was also very wary of strangers. Wendy now is a well-behaved and calm dog. She sweetly greets you every time she sees you.
Wendy now goes on walks twice a day in the morning and evening. Her human says she doesn't pull much and is a good walker. She has a good appetite and is great with the kids in the family and other family members. Way to go, Wendy!

Talia @ Subang Jaya
http://www.petfinder.my/pets/57476
Talia carries the beautiful Hebrew meaning of "dew from heaven". Rescued on a cold, storm night, Talia was weary, unresponsive and lost. With the rescuer's care and love, she's now well recovered from the trauma.
Talia is gentle and calm, very loving towards humans and dogs. She has shown no signs of aggression, a trait definitely suitable for first-time dog owners. She loves attention but is not obsessed over it, and does not show any fea...

And it's a wrap! Tents folded, props kept, Scrappy and Sunshine pampered for their herculean efforts, and everyone's well-rested. (Photos of Scappy and Sunshine taken in real time - they're having a snooze whilst it rains.)
Thank you everyone for coming down, or contributing in one way or another!
The Strait Times featured the Carnival on Monday (28 July), and TODAY produced an article on the theme underlying the Carnival - read it at http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/humans-always -fault-...

People Foods To Avoid Feeding Your Pets 30th Jul 2014, by SPCA Singapore
There's a reason, or two, why pet foods are in a class by themselves, and that should stay that way. The temptation to even 'spoil' our own pets with the foods we consume is often there. But, pet owners, that lactose-rich milk, that you're about to pamper your pet with, might just bring forth that unwanted diarrhoea - and trip to the vet clinic!
(Many dogs and cats, after all, tend to be lactose-intolerant.)

We were greeted with 2 beautiful wild oriental pied hornbills - this time not from a public call! They were sighted this morning near our rescue centre! It is a privilege to be able to see wildlife like them.
Hornbills play an important role in the health of the forest as it disperses seeds that are too big for smaller birds to eat.
The Oriental pied hornbill is critically endangered in the Red list of threatened animals in Singapore. So count yourself lucky if you spot them! Have a good wedn...

Today, the 29th July, is actually INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY! Many a time, visitors - in lapping up zoos (that exhibit tigers) as tourist attractions - fail to realize that they are actually contributing to the exploitation, illegal trade and abuse of tigers!
We have lost 97% of all wild tigers in a little over 100 years! Moreover, only 3,200 live in the wild today! We urge all to do their part as RESPONSIBLE, ETHICAL tourists by NOT supporting such attractions, and by not endorsing tiger tourism...

A hare-raising event, indeed, featuring Kent, our very own, white rabbit!
Our "Bunny Care Workshop", held just last Saturday (27 July, 2014), equipped our SPCA volunteers with the finer points of handling, feeding, grooming and caring for rabbits.
Our thanks go out to our volunteers from the House Rabbit of Singapore Society (HRSS) who lent their time, expertise and finesse to this session, guiding and mentoring those who attended.
We would be starting a "Bunny Play Time" soon, too, so do...
