We had a sad weekend. This adorable puppy was dumped by its owner at the shelter with a huge swollen stomach 2-3 times its size.
Curious person: Why did you dumped this cute puppy of yours? What happen? Did you bring it to the vet?
Irresponsible owner: Oh, I dont know. I didn't bring it to the vet coz I don't know how much its gonna cost me and I don't have money.
Our vet told us she had a birth defect- no anal way for it to defecate. Sadly, the surgery was successful but she was too weak to ...

Simple awareness begins with one person. Slowly but surely as everyone do their part, awareness spreads like wildfire!
These are not runners racing for the first price but runners on a mission to raise awareness for the animals through their individual races - and that makes them special breed.
Shaari, ran the Tri-Factor race yesterday morning and reached the finishing line with a proud smile along with his medal and ACRES bib! He still has many races to go and we thank him for being extremel...

Dog Bite Prevention Tip #6 (a fortnightly feature by SPCA)
- AVOID PETTING YOUR DOG ON ITS HEAD, REPEATEDLY!
In this photo, the child pets the dog on its head and the dog is clearly uncomfortable. It avoids looking at the child, its mouth is closed, its ears are pinned back and its body is stiff. Most dogs do not like being petted repeatedly on the head.
Be polite to a dog. Learn to read its body language and stop your children from petting a dog on its head, especially one that’s unfamilia...

Cleo, The Disciplinarian 4th Aug 2014, by AnimalCare
It all started with my husband coming into the room and accidentally stepping on Cow’s paw.
He patted Cow to say “sorry”, but Cow hissed and gave him a warning bite. Nothing serious. No tetanus jab required.
Then, Cow, infuriated (because he was stepped on, albeit accidentally), walked out of the room to the pantry.
Bunny tried to cross his path and that’s when trouble began.
Cow almost attacked Bunny and guess who came to the rescue?
Yes, it was Cleo.
Cleo whined at Cow...

Our all-time volunteer, Mr. Lee See Siong was in the newspaper today. He has been tirelessly helping our shelter and volunteering at MPSP Dog Pound few times a week since he joined our clan.
We have many volunteers who come and go throughout the years. Most came once or twice and after which we hear no more from them. Some, took advantage of our name and spread untrue facts about us. Hardly we encounter genuine volunteers who will go all out to help us. We are indeed very appreciative to have ...

Cop Forces Man To Abandon His Elderly Blind Dog By The Road To Die 3rd Aug 2014, by SPCA Singapore
We would like to share how, in mid-July 2014, in Houston in the U.S., a police officer actually forced a man to abandon his elderly, BLIND dog, on the side of the road. Not surprisingly, of course, the dog, a 14-year-old Chihuahua that suffered from cataracts, had become hit by traffic and killed.
On that fateful day, the owner of the dog had to be stopped by the police officer, while driving (with the owner’s friend and the Chihuahua in it). The man failed to use a turn signal while driving...

WOODSMEN HELP TRAPPED FAWN
Here's What They Say About What You See:
"My buddy and I were clearing a right of way for the electric lines and came across this fawn trapped in the fall path of the tree we were about to trim. He was tangled in some thorns and was pretty shaken up after we cut him loose, so we started rubbing his belly to calm him down…. which worked a little too well, as you can see.
He followed us around the job site like a lost puppy for about an hour until I noticed a doe watc...

Tiger Seeks Temporary Safehouse 3rd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare
After the near-attack from Bunny, Tiger mewed at the grille, asking to be let out.
How could you say “no” to Tiger, right?
Luckily it’s Sunday and I am home.
Ginger has gone to his other house, so Tiger will be my sewing supervisor for today.
Tiger’s peace tactic is to be non-confrontational.
First, do no harm.
Second, what you say or do to me is your business, not mine. Retaliation is not necessary.
Third, seek temporary safehouse and stay away from source of confr...

Our Masked Hero Springs Into Action….again! 3rd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare
This morning there was suddenly a loud thump on the roof in the pantry.
Within milliseconds, our brave masked hero was already on the ledge and had identified the intruder.
Oh, hello there…I’ve seen you around, Mr Cat.
But Indy was really, really angry and was already clawing at the polycarb, wanting to tear it down.
I was worried Indy might just do that, so I took the water hose and sprayed at their direction, without causing anyone to get wet.
Mr Cat went away, but….not t...

Ginger’s Rooftop Expeditions Take A New Direction 3rd Aug 2014, by AnimalCare
For the past two days, we noticed that Ginger seemed to have found a new roofway to widen his explorations.
Yesterday, he still wasn’t back for dinner by 6.45pm and that’s when I raised the alarm and went out to the garden to call him. Little did I know I was calling towards the wrong side. He had gone to the other neighbour now.
As always, my yardstick is Daffodil. If Daffodil is not unduly worried, I guess Ginger would be safe.
My husband went to the playground to get a better view...
