Weekly Edu-Tip: Weaning very young animals Kittens or puppies which have lost their mother and are too young to eat solid foods, have to be fed milk from a bottle every three to four hours. You can purchase a specialised milk power for animals, as well as suitable milk bottles or droppers from any pet store. Do ensure the milk is slightly warm, but not too hot. You will need to hold the young animal by the scruff of its neck, upright, whilst putting the syringe/bottle into its mouth. Gener...

2nd Mar 2015, by AnimalCare

My son, Jia-Wen’s pet is Bunny…and vice versa.  He’s terribly biased towards Bunny, of course. Currently, Jia-Wen is posted to Jeddah and he must be quite bored in between flights, so he made this afternoon movie for your viewing pleasure. It’s rated “suitable for all ages”, so, no worries there! Starring…Bunny, with guest appearance by Cow! Co-starring Daffodil, Rosie and Ginger.  FEAR the Bunny!!! Muah ha ha ha ha!!! THE END

ROSSA’S RESCUE Everyone can play a part in helping and protecting our native wildlife. Many times, all it takes is just a touch of compassion and initiative. When a group of construction workers spotted Rossa on their first day back at work after Chinese New Year, she was lying in the middle of a construction site at Rifle Range Road and obviously in a bad way. So they called the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline. Rossa was covered with sand, severely dehydrated and hypoglycaemic. Inflammation o...

We've talked about how higher temperatures in beaches produce more female turtle hatchlings. But what if temperatures were to rise even further? If temperatures are extremely high, the implications may be much more serious, leading to high nest mortality in some places. Greater egg loss could lead to a decrease in population size, increasing the vulnerability of turtles to extinction. Help us plant more trees in degraded forests to combat climate change: http://goo.gl/m0fB5U

A LIFE SAVED: THANK YOU, JASPER! With the festive season almost coming to an end, we want to share a happy story about a donor who cared for our wildlife: Jasper! Our rescue team got a call from Jasper, whose dog alerted him to a paradise tree snake that had ended up on his balcony. His neighbour saw the snake and wanted to kill it, thinking it was dangerous. Ginger Stepped In Boldly Where No Cat Dares To Go And….
1st Mar 2015, by AnimalCare

This morning, when I opened the grille to Bunny’s Place, Ginger stepped in boldly and nonchalantly as though it’s the most natural thing to do.
