Recently, the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Team responded to a Hotline call about an injured turtle who appeared to be stranded at Changi Beach. Upon arrival, we realised that the turtle was actually a freshwater soft-shelled turtle, most probably an abandoned illegal pet who had been irresponsibly released into the sea- a totally unsuitable habitat for this freshwater animal. From 9-23 March 2015, MYCAT will be competing in an international voting contest organised by the European Outdoor Conservation Association to save Malayan Tigers, where the project with the most votes win a grant.
If MYCAT wins, they will be granted EUR30,000 to expand the Citizen Action for Tigers (CAT) program and increase protection for tigers at the Sungai Yu Wildlife Corridor in Pahang, as well as continue working with local communities to save wildlife.
