On Saturday (11 April), SPCA's dedicated volunteer team of Dog Mentors as well as our very own Dr Kang Nee, of cheerfuldogs.com, conducted an interactive workshop for dog owners and dog lovers called "Through the Dog's Eyes". It featured fun and interactive games for our participants and our canine residents to explore force-free, rewards-based training methods that they can apply on their own dogs. Thank you to all who came to participate on such a sweltering but enriching day! If you are inte...

Litt' Vamp For Adoption – Petaling Jaya http://www.petfinder.my/pets/67551 Don't be fooled by the cute face. This fiesty boy is a descendant of Count Dracula. 13th Apr 2015, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

WHY MONKEY ACTORS ARE NOTHING TO LAUGH ABOUT A reminder why primates- and other wild animals- have no place in the entertainment industry. You can help by speaking up against this cruelty. Share this information. Refuse to support movies which feature wild animal actors. Write letters. You can also check out the great work being done to bring an end to the use of wild animal actors in TV and film, such as the Animal Pledge and AdNimals free. #ACRES #EndAnimalCruelty #LiveCrueltyFree

Who’s That In The Garden?
13th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare

Another black-and-white?? Ha ha… It’s Indy! I took a chance and let him out because it’s quite pitiful that Tiger and Tabs get to come out all the time but he doesn’t. After all, Indy doesn’t belong to the Cow Family (in a biological sense, that is); he’s friends with Tiger and Tabs. There’s something in this bush… I’m going to track it down… Before all hell broke loose, I brought Indy back… I’m going to track that thi...

Can you spot the difference? Part of WWF-Malaysia's work in conserving tigers include science based monitoring through camera trapping which allows our biologists to measure tiger populations in an area. But how can they tell the difference? By looking at their stripes! Stripes are to tigers like fingerprints are to humans, and no tiger has the same stripes. Help our biologists continue their work in the forest by making a symbolic adoption at http://bit.ly/1IC31el

Gifts “for Adoption”!
12th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare

We are delighted that we’ve had 3 requests for the latest owls which I’ve just completed. However, in the past, we’ve also had readers who ordered our gifts but do not bank in their donation and the gifts are stuck with us until someone else kind-heartedly buys them up. So, to settle this “logistics” issue, we’ve decided to have a very simple system where certain homemade gifts will be up for “adoption”. This will also solve the issue of readers...

The Next Two Nerdy Owls
12th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare

Here they are: Ms Orange-N and Batik-N (still waiting for confirmation on their “adoptions”) The base is a curtain sample. The pupils have to be handsewn. I couldn’t make square-rimmed glasses, so round glasses would have to do. The final touches are the little feet! This one has nerdy eyes. Ginger has a particular interest in “ginger” owls. And Daffodil seems to like owls too. After about 2 years of living in our house and sleeping on our sofas and chai...
