Why is this tiger making a funny face? This tiger is exhibiting a Flehmen response, an action whereby an animal curls it's upper lip back exposing it's teeth and tongue to sniff pheromones in the air. This allows the scent to be taken directly to the vomeronasal organ on the roof of the mouth, which in turn helps determine the condition of the scent's owner.

It was an amazing week from 6th – 10th April, when we had 6 outstanding students from St. Joseph’s Institution International School volunteering with us. Besides contributing their efforts to spruce up ACRES HQ by designing door signs for the volunteer rooms and organising our shop, they also took the opportunity to join us at one of our school roadshows to speak up for the animals with students of a similar age.
