A Basket Lullaby 13th Jun 2015, by AnimalCare
Cow Mau approaches Tiger.
We don’t know if it’s going to result in a showdown (as is not uncommon) or a peaceful encounter.
Just half an hour ago, Bunny launched a war-cry aggression on Tiger who had to hide under the vegetable trays.
It turned out to be a peaceful encounter, probably something like “Hmm…what a nice basket you have there, Tiger.”
Cow wants his own basket too.
After all, which cat is not crazy about baskets and boxes?
Oh, a mat is preferre...

ONLY 5% OF SINGAPOREANS DISAGREE THAT PENALTIES IN SINGAPORE REGARDING THE IMPORT/ EXPORT/ RE-EXPORT AND/OR POSSESSION OF ENDANGERED SPECIES SHOULD BE HARSHER.
This was discovered in a survey commissioned by ACRES and conducted independently by Millward Brown early this year.
A stark example is the penalty meted out last year for the seizure of 32 wild animals – the biggest seizure of illegal wildlife from a home in 11 years.
In February 2014, Ong Ming Shiang was fined $41,000 for keeping ...

Hamzilla Terrorizes Town! 13th Jun 2015, by PetFinder.my
Hamzilla!
Oh, the terror! The merciless destruction! The catastrophy! The... cuteness. Who would have thought that a hamster could wreak such havoc?
Fortunately, the good humans prevail in the end, but not before the monorail gets devoured...
When they're not getting into nuclear waste and mutating, hamsters are great pets. Check http://PetFinder.my to see if there are some listed for adoption today.

Looking good, there, mate...
We check ourselves out in the mirror nearly every day, but we are among the few animals in the world that recognize that the reflection is ours. “Self-recognition” actually requires a lot of complex cognitive coordination. For many years it was believed that humans were the only animals with this ability; however, we have since learned that dolphins, elephants, and chimpanzees can self-recognse, too. Other animals relate to the reflections in mirrors in differen...

SEEKING PRO-BONO PRINTING SERVICES TO HELP WILD ANIMALS IN SINGAPORE- CAN YOU HELP?
Each week, we love sharing the stories of wild animals whom we help, thanks to concerned members of the public contacting our Wildlife Rescue Hotline (97837782). However, what we don’t feature are the cases where ignorance and the lack of awareness led to the unfortunate injuries and deaths of animals. We want to do even more to stop such cases.
Furthermore, we want to help every single distressed wild animal...

In mid-May, 2 male strays were brought in by us from nearby Jln 15, Tmn TAR ( a cul-de-sac) and sponsored for neutering by their community feeder. The friendly and approachable dogs were apparently dumped there a few weeks back.
Dogs were with us for post-op recovery, and released at a new location, away from residences, approx. 800m from original site.
One dog, the black and white one, made his way back to Jln 15.
Community feeder, in addition to feeding him has applied Frontline, given him a...

FROOT IS REUNITED WITH MUM!
Meet Froot, a baby fruit bat who was stranded on the floor. She was calling for help, but it was too early in the day for bats to be active. It was Froot’s lucky day, as a kind member of public spotted her and called us for help.
When infant animals are found and there is a chance that the adults are still around somewhere, our first priority is to try and reunite them. Reunion with the parent/s is the best outcome for any young wild animal, as his/her mother and...

World's Tiniest Deer Gives Birth
It's springtime at the Queens Zoo, and that means adorable baby animals are arriving.
A male southern pudu, the world's smallest deer species, was born at the Wildlife Conservation Society's Queens Zoo in New York on May 12, the zoo confirmed.
It's one of just three pudu, which are native to Chile and Argentina, on display at the Queens Zoo.
Though the baby boy is currently nursing, soon it will eat a typical southern pudu diet of leaves, kale, carrots, grain...

Visiting Thong-Mang 12th Jun 2015, by AnimalCare
We dropped in to visit Thong-mang today!
Here are some photos:
When we arrived, she was sleeping soundly here…
Oh my…she is small! But not exceptionally small.
As it turned out now, Thong-mang is actually not a teacup puppy. She is a puppy of local breed, possibly even has some Beagle in her (from her white socks, erect tail and her Beagle-stance – yes, quite dignified and very confident of herself). The reason she is so small could be that her mother was malnourished. Of c...
