SPCA advises all public to co-operate with the State/Federal services to remove rabies from the State as expeditiously as possible.
Steps that the public should take are:
1. Have all your pet dogs vaccinated against rabies as soon as possible through your veterinarian.
2. Do not allow your dogs to wander on the streets or in public places without a leash (post rabies vaccination).
3. Interstate movement of dogs is not allowed except with the permission (permit given) from the State Veterinar...

2 Rabies Cases Prompts Mass Dog Cull 18th Sep 2015, by MDDB & MCCP Penang
Lets hear out what do u guys think about massive culling for strays regarding the rabies outbreak in northern region currently.
Is the culling necessary and the only way to curb the outbreak?
Is the method being use is the only fastest and safest way to cull this strays?
Other than culling and using barbaric method to cull the strays, is there any better solution?

So far, the directive affects Kedah, Perlis and Penang, but to all owners, feeders and caregivers of dogs, please get your dogs vaccinated (for rabies) and keep them safely indoors.
We appeal to the authorities for compassion and empathy. Please consider vaccination for the strays. Many, many of them are innocent and not infected.

SPCA has more than just dogs and cats that are in need of a loving home. Small animals get dropped off in a box outside our centre as well :( We have many rabbits and guinea pigs that are looking for their forever home too. Spread the word and please adopt and don't buy.

FIVE rescued dogs need loving homes asap. The dogs were roaming and killed 3 cats belonging to a neighbour, the rescuer is caught in arguments with the neighbours and facing a lot of pressure to rehome/ relocate the dogs urgently.
