Auction: Jungle Gym Monkey Blanket (Only Bid RM288) 25th Jan 2016, by AnimalCare
Thanks to PC Leong’s idea, we decided to make a monkey blanket in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, after all.
But we didn’t have any monkey print fabric, so I thought the next best is to do a monkey applique on a patchwork blanket.
Here’s the finished blanket:
I sewed the patchwork blanket from our own cloth and mum did the monkey applique!
Auction Rules:
1. Please check the latest comment for the latest bid before putting in yours.
2. All bids are placed as commen...

THE RESCUE OF SNOW WHITE
Caki Bravo heard only the crunch of snow beneath his boots as he approached the coiled body of a small, blond dog dusted in white. At first Caki thought he might too late. The air had plummeted to -11 degrees for two consecutive nights and the dog was reported to have been lying motionless throughout. But it turns out that the little dog given the name Snow White was very much alive. She had given up, chosing a secluded concrete area away from pedestrian traffic. As Cak...

THANK YOU IMAN!
The December holidays are usually a time where people prefer to spend with their family and friends. Not for Iman, who decided to spare her time to help the animals in any way she can!
During her time with us, she got her hands dirty with every part of ACRES, from handing supporter engagement activities, working with the education team, to even getting right into the action with our rescue team! Oh and yes, she did mingle with our animals while helping out at our wildlife sanc...

Rescued Kittens Go On Epic Adventures
Bolt and Keel were found abandoned in a bush behind the garbage bin of a local park. The plan was to take them to the local shelter, but it wasn’t open after work. The next day their humans left on a two-day canoeing, hiking, and camping trip and didn’t know what to do with the kittens, so of course they decided to bring them on the adventure, too!
The kittens quickly won their way into their humans' hearts. Ever since, the brothers Bolt and Keel have ...

MEET JESSICA REEVES, OUR DEDICATED WILDLIFE GUARDIAN WHO JOIN OUR WORK ALMOST EVERY SUNDAY SINCE 2013!
1. How did you get involved with ACRES?
- I knew about the work that ACRES did already, and have been a volunteer working with all sorts of animals over many years, but have never worked with reptiles – I am English & lived 10 years in Holland, and the import of reptiles into Europe is, fortunately, extremely restricted (though sadly Europe also has an illegal trade in wild animals). It ap...

Ginger’s Longest Visit To Bunny’s Place 24th Jan 2016, by AnimalCare
Ginger mewed at the grille, so I let him in. Supervised, of course.
Hello, Ginger!
Tabs to Tiger: Our friend is visiting!
Cow appears to be asleep in the basket. Shh…
With my eyes on Cow, I let Ginger explore.
Eyes on Indy too.
Pole, Cleo and Bunny were asleep. Can you see Bunny in his tunnel?
While Indy is totally welcome whenever he goes out of the room and none of the PatioCats intimidates him (HE intimidates Vincent and Zurik, actually), the same doesn’t apply when ...

Ginger’s Peace Offering 24th Jan 2016, by AnimalCare
The other day, Ginger sneaked into the room (see Ginger’s happy visit to Bunny’s Place) and ever since then, he had been trying to get into the room again and again.
He did it again, yesterday, but Cow was alerted so we quickly carried him out.
This morning…
Ginger dragged his Carebears blankie to the grille and tried to make a peace offering so that he can be friends. Indy was there and while Ginger was being friendly, Indy was stretching his paw out to scratch poor Ginger....

ANIMAL RESCUE
The Coldest Sport on Earth
The thing about animal rescue is that there is no finish line. It's the race you never win. During winter, your fingers and toes and face burn from the hours of digging and shoveling and searching for the animal who have no shelter as the icy air drops below zero.
Thank you, everyone, for helping us to reach out and provide funds for:
* coal,
* fire wood,
* heating oil
* snow blowers,
* roofing materials for outdoor kennels
* em...
