A Wonderful Surprise From Penang!
1st Mar 2016, by AnimalCare

This afternoon, we received a package, couriered from Penang.  There was no name of sender except for a company name. When I opened the package, it was three pieces of cloth! And what lovely designs too – an enchanted castle, the Jungle Book and duck-frog-bee designs! Large pieces too. I thought they were from Ms Ooi, as these would be the type of cloth she’d buy, so I asked Ms Ooi and now she replies that these were not from her! Hmm…so we have an anonymous donor ...

A NEW GADGET TO HELP WITH OUR IN-HOUSE ANIMAL FOOD PRODUCTION! We at ACRES are so delighted with our latest ‘gadget’: the Aerobin Compost Bin! The great folks from Integrated Motion Technology Pte Ltd (IMT) kindly donated the Aerobin to ACRES. At the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre, we feed a lot of vegetables to the animals in our care. The tortoises don’t really eat the stems, so we usually discard them or scatter them around roots of plants to act as fertiliser. We’ve been told that a...

Everybody Wins on Oscar Night — Including Shelter Animals! The “Everybody Wins” Oscar nominee gift bags are worth about $230,000 each, and go to those in the top five categories who didn’t walk away with the statuette on Sunday night. They contain things like extravagant trips and luxury car rentals for Hollywood’s A-list. But last year’s Best Actress winner says the only thing in it that she actually uses from the bag is a voucher from Halo, Purely for Pets, to donate 10,000 meal...

Vincent Comes Back For Supper Again
1st Mar 2016, by AnimalCare

Vincent came for breakfast this morning, but didn’t want wetfood. He only wanted kibbles. Then, as usual, he went off and did not turn up for lunch. I went to look for him in the evening, but he was not around. Also, Zurik was in the house. I have a feeling Vincent does not want to come back when Zurik is around. After Zurik went off, Vincent came back, and was when it was already dark. We thought he’d want only kibbles so we offered that, but he didn’t want any of them. And h...

While she is on the road to recovery, we are still looking for her owner. If you know anyone who has recently lost a Jack ...

After 12 Hours Of Being Missing, Vincent Returns!!
29th Feb 2016, by AnimalCare

This starts with quite a long story, but I’ll try and make it short. Vincent has been having a hard time at the patio ever since Zurik gained access here. We all know how hard Vincent tried to prevent Zurik from coming in and…failed. And to Vincent, this is a big blow on his confidence because Vincent is a soldier at heart. His duty is to protect the patio from intruders and Zurik managed to…intrude. To rub salt to injury, the Bird Family accepts Zurik. And this is despite t...

Saving Elsa
29th Feb 2016, by PetFinder.my

Saving Elsa It looked like all hope was lost, but this man's noble efforts saved a precious life. A man stepped onto his porch and came across something awful. Lying motionless under the iron railing was a lifeless cat, and because temperatures were dangerously low, the poor thing was practically frozen. He feared the worst, but when he saw the kitten's paw move, he knew that there was hope. He quickly wrapped her up and brought her inside. After a while, the brave feline — now fittingly na...
