24th Apr 2016, by PetFinder.my

Blind & Deaf Dog Finds Best Buddy Susie is blind and deaf, but she loves the feeling of the wind in her face. That’s why Susie’s best friend, a Rottie with wheels, carts her around. When you can’t hear or see, you tend to appreciate these little things even more. Susie might not be able to run around, but that won’t stop her from going on adventures! Her best friend doesn’t seem to mind being her personal chauffer – he’s just glad to be able to romp around, too! Dogs make the...

DEAR KA YAN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION! Ka Yan Liew, a student from the UMS (University of Malaysia Sabah), spent one and a half months interning with us, from February until April. Interestingly, Ka Yan took Agriculture (livestock) as her major, but she chose to conduct her final year project with ACRES – an organisation that advocates for more humane alternatives to factory farming. During her days with us, as we worked together to take care of the rescued animals, we managed to exc...

Designer Neck Ties For Fundraising!
24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare

One of our blog followers and supporter (who has requested anonymity) has donated 33 designer neck ties to us for fundraising! Most of them are pre-loved neck ties. For maintenance, dry cleaning is recommended. Our thoughtful donor has painstakingly done a complete and detailed inventory for us with photographs too, and packed each tie separately into a plastic container. (I don’t have to do anything except to figure out how to sell them!) The 33 neck ties, neatly packaged and ...

Vincent’s “maintenance” Plan
24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare

Everything’s been fine with Vincent since his surgery. Apart from the 5 days of sneezing (it has stopped now), he’s as well as can be and is totally back to his old ways. This includes sentry duty at the gate and being “super-manja” to all visitors. His confidence is also back, 100%. Ginger is back to bullying him, unfortunately, but that’s how it is with cats and we humans cannot much about it. When Vincent was sneezing, it didn’t seem serious enough to war...

BARF News: Detox Or Coincidental?
24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare

I’m not sure if it’s a detoxing effect or it was just coincidental, but three of our cats had sneezing episodes recently. I did learn from the supplier, Coco&Joe, that BARF can sometimes initiate detoxification in the animals. It started with Vincent – he began sneezing, but not badly. But then again, Vincent had his dental surgery so it could also be due to lowered immunity as a result of that? Then, Ginger started sneezing not long after. Coincidentally again, this was a...

A Baby Owl For A Baby Girl
24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare

It’s owl season, folks! Here’s another owl order and this time it’s for a baby girl. For this owl, I used pink flannel. Handsewn, with help. Do you see Daffodil? She supervises. The wing-cloth is from Chen Chen, left over from previously sewn blankets. Sihui chose this cloth for the wings since it’s her mum, Mrs Lee, who ordered the owl. Sewing the eyes. Done, and baby flannel-pink owl will be flying to Seremban! Thank you very much, Mrs Lee!

FERAL CAT RELOCATION PROJECT
24th Apr 2016, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase

Today we relocated a shelter that is home to elderly feral cats who have lived on this one property all their lives. Because a new business is now moving in on the lot (it had been vacant for years) Harmony Fund Founder Laura Simpson and Treasurer Michelle Muller got busy setting up a shelter for the cats on an adjacent property. After enjoying their ...
