Authorities To Step Up Enforcement To Prevent The Release Of Animals Into The Wild 18th May 2016, by SPCA Singapore
REFRAIN FROM RELEASING ANIMALS ON VESAK DAY
Do you know that in Singapore, it is against the law to release any animal into our public parks, reservoirs, nature reserves and other places? Many people do not realise that these animals are unlikely to survive in natural habitats and may even threaten to affect the ecological balance of the environment that they are released into.
Releasing animals into the wild will do them more harm than good.
Do your part to demonstrate compassion for anima...

A New Visitor Tries His Luck 18th May 2016, by AnimalCare
Was it due to the “vacuum” created when Heidi went missing-in-action for half a day, or was it purely coincidental?
A new cat entered our house compound last night and made himself (I’m assuming he’s a he) very comfortable in the porch.
The surprising thing is that Ginger and Vincent just let him be and did not chase him out.
I heard some unusual noise in the porch and went out to look. The new cat looked a lot like Vincent but seemed to be lighter in colour. I’m n...

5 Bags For Fundraising 18th May 2016, by AnimalCare
Many thanks to ISKL Grade Two Team (15/16) for ordering 5 of our bags as gifts for parents of their school! Thank you very much for the kind donation of RM50 per bag!
The mustard-coloured upholstery cloth is donated by Janet.
The price of canvas has gone up considerably since last year and it is also very difficult to get supply nowadays, so we will make use of whatever that is donated to us. We do, however, have just enough canvas to make three more bags, and these three have been booked...

PLEASE NEUTER YOUR PET!
They multiply too fast!
YOU can help solve the overpopulation problem.
Over the years, animal organizations and councils have collected and put down hundreds of thousands of stray dogs and cats simply because suitable homes are not found for them. Therefore, we take every initiative to encourage pet owners to bring their pets to be neutered or desexed to stop the multiplication. In a single dog's life, it can multiply to more than 5000 within it's lifetime!
We congratu...

Dog Vs. Cat: Drinking Habits 17th May 2016, by PetFinder.my
Dog vs. Cat: Drinking Habits
Sam and Si, the two genius videographers at BBC's Earth Unplugged, take a good, long, slow-motion look at how cats and dogs drink. (Their drinking methods are strikingly different from each other!) So to whom would you grant the Heavy Drinking Award -- the dog or the cat?
This is also a great time to remind you that your pets need a steady supply of clean drinking water at all times -- especially on the hottest days. If you'd like to adopt a skilled drinker of ...

SOMEONE LOOKED FOR ENERGY IN THE WRONG PLACE!
From time to time, the ACRES wildlife rescue team encounters strange and at times…silly cases. Taurine, the equatorial spitting cobra got himself in a fix – when taking a sniff inside a Redbull drink can. Reasons why he did that? – we would never know. Unfortunately, the only thing he got was his head stuck in the can, and he definitely needed some help.
Watch and share this silly and adorable rescue video and please support our rescue work ...

Heidi’s MIA Story (bearings Gone Wrong?) 17th May 2016, by AnimalCare
Heidi was accompanying me this morning, in her usual routine – at 5am, she will jump onto the bed and sleep with me until it’s time for breakfast.
Breakfast was as usual and after that, she followed me to the playground for morning exercise. She does this daily and as always, when I come back, she will not follow back. It’s Zurik who follows back. Heidi will remain at the playground to enjoy the quiet morning where she can watch the birds. And within a few minutes, she would b...

Windy Day 16th May 2016, by PetFinder.my
Feeling Joy On A Windy Day
We all appreciate a refreshing breeze from time to time, but when a dog stops to enjoy the wind or sticks its head out a car window, there's more to it than simply a pleasing sensation.
Another reason dogs like a little wind in their faces is because of all the information they can gather.
With 220 million olfactory cells in their snouts, dogs can detect scents up to a million times better than we can.
They also have secondary olfactory system known as the Jacobson...
