NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUND UP – 12 AUG 2016
Sunbeam snakes are one of Singapore’s native and non-venomous species of snakes. Needless to say, they are beautiful with their iridescent scales. Their name comes from their many colours shown by their scales under sunlight. There are several interesting facts about this species, such as their burrowing habit, head shape and more.
The photo on the right shows a sunbeam snake who was found inside a toilet. Thanks to the family for calling us...

Truffle For Adoption, Kuala Lumpur
http://PetFinder.my/pets/77712
Poor Truffle was abandoned by his owner, and was living on the streets for over a month. Perhaps due to abusive experience, he is a bit timid and afraid of loud noises.
Nonetheless, Truffle boy is extremely loving, and enjoys good walks and exercises! What he needs is a kind heart to show him what it's like to belong to a real family.

Home-Cooked Food For Tiger (and All!) 12th Aug 2016, by AnimalCare
I was weighing between raw food and cooked and finally “cooked” won for today. The reason is, not everyone likes raw and Bunny definitely cannot eat raw. Cleo, who LOVES raw, recently developed a hypersensitivity towards raw food which resulted in a very bothersome itch. Ever since I took her off raw food, her skin started to heal and the fur is growing back now.
But, back to Tiger…
Being on TCM now, he has to eat home-prepared food with as little chemicals as possible. Raw o...

CODE OF ANIMAL WELFARE (FOR THE PET INDUSTRY)
The SPCA applauds this move by the AVA to raise the standards in the pet industry. The Code of Animal Welfare http://www.ava.gov.sg/docs/default-source/press-re leases/press-release_issuance-of-code-of-animal-we lfare-(for-the-pet-industry)-final.pdf is a step in the right direction.

OUR LONGEST STAYING RESIDENT; DINO HAS BEEN ADOPTED AFTER SPENDING FIVE YEARS AT SPCA
Remember Dino, our longest staying resident after Ida was adopted in February 2016?
We took in Dino off the streets in 2009 when he was a young puppy. He was adopted shortly after but, disappointingly, returned to us in 2011 when his owners left the country for good and did not take him along. [Remember, a pet is for life.]
The tide has changed for Dino. After spending the past five years in our shelter, we ...

TCM Treatment For Tiger 11th Aug 2016, by AnimalCare
Tiger’s epileptic seizures have been getting worse by the day. Throughout this week I was able to monitor him closely and from an interval of 3-4 days, it became 1-2 days and yesterday, he threw two seizures in the same day, just five hours apart.
His vet agrees that there is a deterioration. The next step in allopathic medicine would be to consider a drug (either prochloroperazine or phenobarbital).
Tiger has been on the supplements for a few weeks too and they don’t seem to be wor...
