Fundraising At The Buddhist Maha Vihara Today 24th Jul 2016, by AnimalCare
Here are some photos from today’s fundraising. Many thanks to Agnes, Yuen Foon and a few other friends who helped (especially with the carrying of merchandise!).
The crowd was rather thin, maybe because of the rain. But it was nice talking with people and learning about their experience with their pets.
Throughout the few hours while we were there, Puss, the temple cat, was our mascot for the day!
So comfortably curled up in an empty bag.

Toto was abandoned at the Section 17 market a few months ago. He had mange.He has been treated, vaccinated & neutered by a community rescuer. He was released back to the market & parked himself at Sports Toto. Everybody knows him as he is very friendly. Unfortunately, he was caught by MBPJ few days ago. Rescuer managed to claim him, and we have taken him into SPCA. He is about 1 yr old, and will make a great family pet! Drop by to meet him 10am-4pm, Tue - Sun!

SATURDAY NIGHT CRIME: 8 MILLION SEAHORSES SEIZED
On 7 June 2016, Peruvian officials seized more than eight million seahorses that were smuggled onto a Chinese-flagged ship and bound for Asia. The seized seahorses were worth close to $4 million on the black market, making it the largest seizure in Peru’s history. Previously in 2012, Peruvian police seized 16,000 dried seahorses on a street near an airport in Lima, the nation’s capital.

We named her Aurora. This sweet-faced angel was dumped at SPCA more than a month ago, due to lack of space and resources we had to board her at a private vet for treatment for almost 3 weeks. We could tell from her condition that she was severely neglected by her previous owner. Her skin condition was severe and had to be treated at a private vet.
