Daffodil’s Story Continues…
8th May 2017, by AnimalCare

After yesterday’s unsuccessful jump (evidenced only by the sound I heard and Daffodil being at Stargate2), Daffodil went upstairs and slept for hours. I guess it tires her out a lot, so really, we are very keen to stop her from jumping. But how? Hopefully, she will quickly learn that she should not jump anymore. If any of the PatioCats wants to go out to the porch or even to the playground, we will take them, under supervision, but the only problem is, it’s difficult to get them bac...

Message sent to us: someone dumped a box of puppies outside one of our regular veterinary clinics. There are nine puppies in total estimated to be three days old. According to the vet, none will survive if left in the clinic due to various reasons including the fact that a veterinary clinic is platform for all kinds of infections for newborn puppies. However, some or perhaps even all, of the puppies will survive if they are fostered out. The plan is to get people to take and foster one or two pu...

27 Batik Tote Bags (fundraising)
7th May 2017, by AnimalCare

We would like to thank Mr Ooi In Haw (once again!) for his kind donation of RM705 for these 27 tote bags. The request was to maximise all cloth to the approximate small, medium or large sizes, so you will notice that the sizes differ a little and the orientation too. No cloth is wasted!! These 27 bags were sewn by my mum and me. Two medium light blue. Cloth donated by my mum. Three small red batik. The one on the top left is a bit smaller (optimising the cloth). Four medium. Two large. Red...

Photos From ACRES: Animal Concerns Research And Education Society (Singapore)'s Post
7th May 2017, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

RED-EARED SLIDERS/TERRAPINS FOUND WITH WHITE SPOTS: PETS OR WILD ANIMALS? [Graphic images in album] Early this year, ACRES Animal Crime Investigation Unit visited 14 aquarium shops in Singapore that sold red-eared terrapins. Out of these 14 shops, 10 shops had each put on display for sale juvenile red-eared terrapins who had generalised or round, distinct whitish lesions on the shell (as shown in 4 of the photos). Whilst some of the shopkeepers informed us that a number of terrapins have di...

I Raised The Bar (Daffodil’s Story Continues)
7th May 2017, by AnimalCare

We came home and invited Daffodil into the house. She was in the porch and after some persuasion, she came in. I raised the polycarbonate sheets to the highest possible level, but still using the S-hooks. I do know that using S-hooks isn’t going to be a permanent solution. There would be a gap above the S-hooks and she can still heave herself up, but let’s just try, shall we? In no time, I guess Daffodil went out again. I was in the room, typing the previous post and I heard th...

“Piece Of Cake, You Dumb Humans” (Daffodil Wins Again)
7th May 2017, by AnimalCare

The story continues… So, we all came down for breakfast at about 4.30am. I only started serving food at 5.30am. Zurik was waiting obediently right outside Stargate2 (he’s been really good these days, that’s because he cannot come in to beat someone up). He lives in the porch and loves the shoe rack. Daffodil ate with everyone and all seemed well until…. …she took a walk out to the patio. I was watching, but without a phone or a camera. She went towards Stargate2...

Daffodil Concedes…?
7th May 2017, by AnimalCare

So Daffodil slept soundly upstairs while we put up the polycarbonate sheets. Without even watching, she knew what was going on (how DOES a cat do that?), so she decided not to waste her time or energy to do anything. Just slept. Then, she came down (after it was all done), and settled contentedly in the house. She ate with everyone. Groomed Ginger, let Ginger groom her. Happiness. She did come out to have a look at night, but only a very, very brief look, barely even tilting her head. Can&...
