Separation Anxiety
Separation anxiety is triggered when dogs become upset because of separation from their guardians, the people they’re attached to.
When treating a dog with separation anxiety, the goal is to resolve the dog’s underlying anxiety by teaching him to enjoy, or at least tolerate, being left alone. This is accomplished by setting things up so that the dog experiences the situation that provokes his anxiety, namely being alone, without experiencing fear or anxiety.
Common Sym...

Another Cow-Bunny Fight 1st May 2017, by AnimalCare
It happens often, but today’s was quite vicious.
We had to use the water hose to break them up, and both ended up wet.
Cow nose bled as well, probably due to being scratched by Bunny, in defence.
Luckily the nose scratch as superficial; the bleeding stopped very quickly.
We wiped them both dry.
Cleo came to check on Cow.
Me?
I wasn’t involved.
All’s well now.

The Non-Escapees Of Stargate2 (and One Escapee) 1st May 2017, by AnimalCare
It’s been almost a week since Stargate2 (Part 1) was installed.
Part 2 was supposed to come after two days, but until today, it’s still not ready.
Hence, it definitely isn’t cat-proof yet.
On the first day itself after the installation of Stargate2, we sent Indy out for the acid test. It took Indy all of 3 seconds to discover how to get out. Of course we caught him in time before he actually climbed out.
For the first two days, Vincent, Ginger, Daffodil, Heidi, Tiger and Tabs ...

Istanbul, Please Lead The Way (Part 3) 1st May 2017, by AnimalCare
A friend shared this:http://animalbehaviorassociates.com/blog/mana ging-street-dogs-cats-turkey/
Turks are very much against euthanasia of dogs and cats for “population control”. This is in contrast to the U.S. where there has been very little tolerance of free-roaming dogs and where euthanasia of healthy but unwanted dogs has been a common, although controversial, public health policy for at least 50 years. This is changing in the U.S. today as the numbers of free-roaming do...

Istanbul, Please Lead The Way (Part 2) 1st May 2017, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, we posted a video about how kind the citizens of Istanbul are towards stray cats.
Now, a friend shares this bit of great news to add on:
It’s not just stray cats that are well-treated, I read that they also feed stray dogs in a proper and well-thought-out way. They would build three-walled shelters n place food/drinks there, so any dog can just eat n drink there without littering d streets. People will then clean up and re-fill, and it’s all voluntary. Win-win for bo...

A LITTLE THANK YOU MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE OFFICERS!
It’s not easy working a 32-hour shift with intermittent yelling at times (we have a number of nice callers who keep the morale up) or to ensure that the right menu is served at the right time for our choosy rescued animals. All these while, constantly raising the much needed awareness, but the rewards are priceless!
We thank each of our rescue officers, care-givers on duty everyday including public holiday for going the distance (because ...

FALL IN LOVE WITH THE DOGS WHO "SING" DURING DINNER
All day long, you'll hear huffs and grunts, barks and yelps coming from the dogs at this Bosnian rescue center. But when meal time comes, they form a chorus. As the rescued dogs crunch in unison, it's the most perfect song of contentment you'll ever hear. Every one of these dogs has gone hungry before. Not anymore.
For a small charity, we have a VERY BIG mission. We aim to provide 51,000 meals to underdog animal rescue squads across the plane...

Children’s Mini Tote Bags (fundraising And Greening The Earth!) 30th Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
Our kind donor gave me this fantastic idea of sewing tote bags for children!
It all started when the parents of this little girl ordered three hobo bags from us. The moment the bags arrived by post, the little girl grabbed all three bags and said they were hers. But the hobo bags were far too big and long for her!
This gave rise to this fantastic idea of sewing mini tote bags for children.
I decided to use remnant cloth, patchworked, if necessary, since the whole idea is not to waste.
I used re...
