Many people come upon litters outdoors and ‘assume’ they have been abandoned when in fact the mother dog is nearby, probably hunting. Outdoor or stray mother dogs sometimes scatter their babies to avoid predation. If the puppies are fed well, are in a safe place, and fall asleep after crying for a short while, the mother is probably around. It is best to monitor a nest for a couple of hours.

CANINE DISTEMPER IN DOGS
Canine distemper is a contagious and serious viral illness with no known cure. Canine distemper belongs to the Morbillivirus class of viruses, and is a relative of the measles virus, which affects humans, the Rinderpest virus that affects cattle, and the Phocine virus that causes seal distemper. All are members of the Paramyxoviridae family. Young, unvaccinated puppies and non-immunized older dogs tend to be more susceptible to the disease.

ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT - JACK
Meet Jack, a male, ginger and white, local cat, who was found in Toa Payoh, at an open car park in January 2017.
Jack was found with multiple injuries on his body and a badly damaged forelimb, exposing its bone. Surgery was done to amputate his leg and Jack has since recovered and is ready to be adopted.
