Neutering Aid For 3 Cats In Kluang (Yu Bee Kian’s) 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
We have provided a full sponsorship of RM450 for the neutering of these 3 female cats.
Ms Yu Bee Kian is a new applicant who communicated with us months ago. According to her, she has rescued many cats and she houses them at home. She used her own money to get them neutered but she is in financial need now, hence, she heard about our aid and decided to apply to us.
She also gives medical treatment to any sick cats whom she rescues.
She is assisted by an elderly uncle by the name of Cheng Pet Sin...

How Is Tabs Coping? 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
Tabs didn’t seem affected by the incident. Maybe she didn’t know about it at all.
But I must say that her appetite and demeanour have improved after we changed the subcut fluids to 150ml daily.
The only changes we did are: (1) daily Gabapentin, (2) Renal-Combi twice a day instead of once and (3) Subcut fluids increase to 150ml instead of 200ml three times a week.
Again, I cannot be sure which worked. Maybe all of them?
I also try to give her the AIM supplement daily. But this will r...

How Are The Monsters Coping? 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
The Monsters were clearly quite significantly affected after we trimmed and thinned out the foliage in the Catio.
But I think they are slowly adjusting to the “new environment” now.
Rey
Minnie
Ginger
Lynx
Smurfy – he has gone very cranky.
Robin – also a bit cranky.
Today, they are eating well again.
For the last few days since the incident, they weren’t.
The plants will grow back, everyone. But we will have to keep them from getting too lush.
We are getting...

Last Week, We Shared Our Concerns About The Lack O.. 19th Apr 2024, by SPCA Singapore
Last week, we shared our concerns about the lack of stricter regulations on shock collars in Singapore. So many of you stood with us and agree that aversive training tools like shock collars have no place in training.
Here is a powerful reminder: If the toughest can’t take it, our animals shouldn’t have to either.

It’s time to raise our voices again. Let’s only #teachwithkindness.

How Are Misty And Gerald Settling In? 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
Well, Gerald settled in instantly, of course! Even the incessant whining has decreased a lot now, to almost none or only when he is hungry, which is totally reasonable.
The Blondies love him and he’s made himself very at home.
Misty, on the other hand, started by intimidating the Blondies, which isn’t surprising as it is probably a defence mechanism at work. But even that has reduced a lot now.
I did not think it would be so easy for them to settle in, but it seems that way.
I also t...

My Friend’s Recent Reptilian Encounter (her Cats Saved Her Life) 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
When we told our part-time cleaner about our reptilian encounter, coincidentally, she said the house that she cleaned the day before in USJ11 also had a reptilian issue. She was so jittery.
Oh my…it’s the hot weather that’s drawing them out, isn’t it? They need to find cooler places.
Now, another one of my friends also had a recent encounter and hers is a scary one.
But, believe it or not, her three cats saved her life.
She lives in an area where there are cobras and pyt...

Craziness In The Catio 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
I didn’t know that trimming down the plants in the Catio would cause so much craziness and crankiness in the Monsters.
They are clearly upset that their mini jungle has been thinned out. There’s no place to hide or take an afternoon nap there anymore.
I think it shocked them, ie. “Oh no….what happened to our jungle?????”
Smurfy and Robin have gone crazy.
Minnie is so upset that the path up to her top-of-the-world platform is so exposed now.
Rey also isn’t him...

Riley…caught In The Act! 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
Look, look!!
Riley’s doing it!
She’s just so clever, isn’t she?
Riley, is what I would call, a heaven-sent cat. Although she grew up on the street (I think?), she’s so friendly and incredibly easy-going. And she strives to please. There’s also no hostility in her at all.
The only issue I have with her is her grazing eating habits. She’s not your two-square meals type of cat. She grazes all day long.
And yet, she allows me to force feed her or to pill her. No ...

Riley Literally Toilet-Trained Herself 19th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
And I’m not talking about being litter-box trained. That’s normal. All cats know that. No training is required, it’s instinctive.
I’m talking about using our human toilet bowl.
Now, for the past weeks, I’ve been seeing unflushed urine in the downstairs toilet bowl and wondering who forgot to flush.
I found the answer this morning.
I missed the shot, but Riley was really squatting on the toilet, urinating into the toilet bowl.
Bunny used to be able to do that too.
S...

Misty’s Escape Route Revealed And Plugged! 18th Apr 2024, by AnimalCare
Our friend and contractor, Tony, arrived right on time at 10am this morning.
Misty was wary of a stranger being in her territory, so she went up to the top-of-the-world platform.
She did some down to kepoh a bit, but Samantha had already taken her basket.
Tony examined this spot where I think the escape route is and guess what? He says it’s impossible! There is absolutely no way she could get out from here.
Wow! That means I’ve got it all wrong. There must be another way.
Luckily ...
