The story of democracy starts in ancient Greece – honestly, what doesn’t? It means rule by the people, and comes from the Greek word dēmokratiā, coined from dēmos (people) and kratos (rule).
It is intimately linked to your rights as a citizen. And the word citizen is connected to the word city. You see what we did here? Urban areas are hotspots for democracy, and this is one reason why WWF works with cities.
Democracy is not a given. People fought hard for it and we still need to!

A ship in a harbour us safe, but that is not what ships are for. It is with great hope that our seafaring vessel, Mameng II continues the original Mameng's great conservation legacy in Kudat for years to come.
