Happy #ThrowbackThursday! In honour of #WorldTurtleDay on 23 May, here's a short video of our painted terrapin conservation efforts in the scenic Setiu Wetlands, a proposed state park in Terengganu.
The painted terrapin is a freshwater turtle species that is currently critically endangered worldwide. Unlike their marine cousins, this freshwater species only lays between 5 to 16 eggs only per clutch, and not all of them will successfully hatch, let alone survive into adulthood.

What great news to celebrate World Turtle Day yesterday! Take a look at these 78 baby turtles hatched from the first green turtle nest at WWF-Malaysia's Setiu site yesterday.
It is estimated that only one marine turtle out of 1,000 eggs will survive to adulthood under natural conditions.
Marine turtles need all the help they can get to survive. Join us to save this endangered species by not consuming turtle eggs to keep them alive and free in the ocean.
