No To Carrots. Rabbits Are Herbivores And A Common.. 16th Jul 2018, by SPCA Singapore
NO TO CARROTS!
Rabbits are herbivores and a common misconception is that rabbits eat mainly carrots. However, it is bad and unhealthy for rabbits to eat too many carrots.
Carrots are high in sugar, and should be given to rabbits only as an occasional treat and not as their main source of food.
A balanced diet for rabbits consists of an unlimited amount of hay, fresh vegetables (eg. bok choy and romaine lettuce), pellets, and fresh water.

TODAY IS WORLD SSSSNAKES DAY 🐍 16th Jul 2018, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
Josh our wildlife rescue volunteer shares about his experience with snakes today:
"There was a moment during my first python rescue as I was holding her by the head that I caught her gaze and saw her staring me straight in the eye. It was then that it became apparent how much more scared she was of me than I ever was of the snake. Five months later I’ve now encountered and rescued countless snakes from tiny wolf snakes and paradise tree snakes to spitting #cobras and pit #vipers. Each one in...

Iberian Lynx Family Video 16th Jul 2018, by WWF Malaysia
WWF-Spain partners have captured some wonderful camera tramp footage of two Iberian Lynx cubs and their mother.
They were born in the wild in Montes de Toledo, in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha - one of the areas where this endangered cat has been reintroduced thanks to the efforts of LIFE+ Iberlince project, of which WWF-Spain is a partner.
In the early 20th century, the Iberian Lynx was widespread in central and southern Spain and Portugal. It declined steadily and, in 2002, it w...

Indy’s Mouth Ulcers (Day 3) 16th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
Today is Day 3 of Indy’s antibiotic treatment for his mouth ulcers.
He is smarter today – he spat out the half tablet so we had to re-do with the pill popper again. The second time worked.
He still doesn’t want to eat his cooked and canned food. As the vet said, maybe the smell of the food reminds him of the initial pain in the mouth.
For breakfast, he was willing to lick up some blended raw food and after that, he only wanted kibble.
Bah! Mouth ulcers suck!

Cow, Pole, Cleo And The Hole 16th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
The hole story continues…
Cow is still doing it. He sleeps at the hole so that Pole and Cleo cannot come into the room.
Cleo tries to navigate her way around Cow and finds that it’s impossible.
Pole, however, got in earlier, before Cow set up the road block. But now, she cannot get out!
And so, every day, the same happens.
Sometimes, Pole does her own “road block”, from inside the room.
If only Cow and Bunny would stop spraying, then everyone can come in.
Indy is s...

Pernah Tak Korang Jumpa Kucing, Nak Bagi Makan Tap.. 16th Jul 2018, by SCRATCH
Pernah tak korang jumpa kucing, nak bagi makan tapi stok makanan kucing dah habis atau tak cukup?
Kadang tu rasa macam sempit sangat, dompet tinggal berapa ringgit je, macam tak cukup nak sampai hari gaji semula.

Ginger Defied The Rule Of The Porch 15th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
There was a rather big fight in the porch late last night.
It was between Ginger and Mr Zurik.
We think that it’s because Ginger refused to come into the house last night, so Mr Zurik took it upon himself to “discipline” Ginger.
You see, Ginger gets to spend the day in the porch, sitting under the car, which is what he likes to do, and Mr Zurik totally allows that. Ginger would sit under the car while Mr Zurik sits atop (the car).
But the Rule of the Porch is that when night fa...

Timeline Photos 15th Jul 2018, by PAWS
Russell the Miniature Pinscher is adopted! Although Russell is the tiniest amongst all dogs here, he has a big personality. We will surely miss his presence, trotting about in the shelter, especially his “Dad” (far left). Ultimately, we’re glad that he has a loving family now.

Sharks Can Be 'Social Or Solitary' 15th Jul 2018, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
SHARKS HAVE PERSONALITIES TOO!
Yesterday was Sharks Awareness Day!
Here is a little sharing from Naomi Clark-Shen a marine conservationist:
"It is mostly mammals who are acknowledged as having personalities, but did you know that #sharks do as well?
Some sharks like to consistently socialise with other sharks, while others are more '#introvert' and like to hang out alone. Another study even found that they have certain ‘#bestfriends’ whom they hang out with more than others!
Sharks an...

The Little Bird Came A-Calling 15th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
This morning, as I went out to the porch to feed Zurik, I noticed a little cuckoo bird sitting on our gate.
It’s tiny.
And of course, all tiny creatures remind us of Tiger’s kindness.
I walked very slowly towards the little bird and it looked at me. Didn’t budge. Seemed quite comfortable just sitting on our gate.
Hello, birdie…
I told my husband to come look and we sat on the bench, looking at the little bird for quite long.
We had to make sure Zurik was nowhere near...

Indy And The Pill Popper (Day 2) 15th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
Today is Day 2 of Indy’s mouth ulcers treatment.
It took some coaxing to get him to eat his breakfast of Primal (rehydrated with water). The vet said this is expected as he hasn’t been using his mouth for many hours through the night, so some pain is expected in the morning.
After the wet Primal, he wanted kibble, so kibble it is.
Cow and Bunny are wondering why they don’t get extra food.
Then, came the pill popping session.
I was anxious as Indy is not easy to pill.
I prepar...
