We're looking for foster families for our little ones. If you happen to have the time and love please drop by to have a look at our kittens and puppies. Even if you can foster them for only a month it'll be a huge help to us. The longer they stay here, the higher chances of them getting exposed to God knows what viruses from the shelter. We're sure our little ones will be a great addition to your already awesome family. #langkawianimalshelterandsanctuary #langkawianimalshelterandsanctuaries #bon...

The Holey Cloth (pilling Vincent Continues) 21st Aug 2018, by AnimalCare
Last night, Chen sent this video: https://youtu.be/_4qV3i2rnpg It shows how this lady managed to feed and examine a totally feral, hissing adult cat (just caught) by using a towel with a hole just big enough for the mouth and ears.
I thought it was definitely worth a try!
So, this morning…
We have so many old towels and it so happened that this pink towel already has a hole in it. Yay…perfecto! I think the size of the hole is just right.
So, we have the holey clot...

Poppy' Is Lucky To Be Alive. Her Parents Noticed R.. 20th Aug 2018, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
'Poppy' is lucky to be alive. Her parents noticed red spots on her belly which turned out to be spontaneous bruising. After lots of work up, she was diagnosed with immune mediated thrombocytopenia (Evan's syndrome). This is a life threatening condition where her immune system attacks her own platelets. Thankfully her intensive care treatment stabilised her condition with lots of medications. Her parents attention to detail and dedication ensured her early diagnosis and treatment. 💓💓💓 #e...

Nine Activists Defending The Earth From Violent As.. 20th Aug 2018, by Roots & Shoots Malaysia
"They are in the frontline of a battle between those who promote conservation and those who promote consumption. This conflict has become more violent as resources become scarcer. Extractive industries are financing the campaigns of a new generation of political strongmen: Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Turkey, Donald Trump in the United States and Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil. All are committed to eroding the few legal protections that environmental campaigners and ind...

The Pill-At-Home Plan In Action (for Vincent) 20th Aug 2018, by AnimalCare
The preparation.
It really is just a teeny weeny tablet. Certainly so much smaller than the dreaded Stomorgyl from last time.
The inspection (by Tabs).
So we followed the vet’s instructions to the letter, ie. Step (1) Put cat on table, to Step (2) Wipe face and head with wet cloth and then onwards to Step (3) Tilt cat’s head up.
Step (3) kind of failed. Vincent was too smart to be fooled, so we went on to (3b) Rub chin and cat should tilt head.
Should, indeed.
(3b) also fai...

STAY SAFE TAKU - ROCK PIGEON RESCUE & RELEASE 20th Aug 2018, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE ANIMAL AT A TIME
This video of Taku, a rock pigeon, is one of an entanglement rescue case. It took one compassionate individual to recognise Taku as a sentient being, and the distress that Taku was in before making a call to our wildlife rescue hotline for assistance.
It's not the big, rare, or dangerous animals whom we seek to protect, but also the often overlooked or "uncharismatic" animals too. It is up to us human beings to give them a voice, speak up on their beha...

Vincent Has The Flu (to The Vet’s Again) 20th Aug 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent has been drooling thick and smelly saliva again. It must be the mouth ulcers again. He also sneezes occasionally and two days ago, I noticed specks of blood on the floor (which I attributed to his mouth ulcers).
Also, he has been extremely choosy over food and only wants to eat raw food. Luckily we have our supply of Cubgrub barf (for Pole and Cleo), so that’s what he has been eating.
The worrying thing is that Vincent eats a lot, and yet, he is still very thin. His weight is...

HYDRATION IS KEY
We live on a sunny island and in light of the recent heat wave, with temperatures hitting a high of 35 degrees, the last thing we want is for our pets to suffer a heatstroke. What can we do to help our pets beat the heat?
Here are some tips:
• Ensure that your pets have access to drinking water at all times. Remember to bring along a water bottle when you are walking your dog to keep it hydrated.
• Walk your dog during cooler parts of the morning, evening, or even at night...
