Mr Zurik’s Breakfast And More About The FIP 14th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
Mr Zurik spent all night on the sofa. He didn’t come upstairs.
Last night, he ate at the patio. His favourite food is Monge kibble, so that’s what he got.
On a side note, Zurik has been eating Monge kibble all this while and it was only lately that I started to train him to eat wetfood (he doesn’t quite like it, though). So he has been on kibble and yet his kidney readings are fine. In fact, it is even better than our inside cats. So I do wonder, maybe food isn’t exactly ...

Feeding The Cow Clan 14th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
Indy hasn’t had his raw liver for weeks now, so I thought I’d give him a treat this morning. This is the assorted food for the Cow Clan. I know which is for whom. I’ve managed to get everyone back to eating Cubgrub now, but sometimes, they need a little variety. Bunny has a fair amount of the wet RC renal diet too. He likes it. The RC renal ingredient list has a few types of meat as the first ingredient so this provides some protein rotation for Bunny.
Indy does not like the w...

Mr Zurik’s Portraits 14th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
I stayed with Mr Zurik all night to help him acclimatise to the new environment of being inside the house.
I let him choose a spot where he is comfortable and he chose the sofa.
It’s good that he was able to find a spot very quickly, and he’s not hiding. He still has his confidence, but it’s a far cry from his “fierce and terrorising” days.

But after a few hours, he wanted to go out.
Of course he wo...

Mr Zurik Has FIP 13th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
There is no cure. It is terminal.
It is one of the most dreaded diseases in cats, but it normally happens to young kittens. So, Mr Zurik’s case is considered “uncommon”, according to the vet.
We started noticing weight loss around January this year. There was also a loss in confidence and gradual loss of appetite. This was during the time when Vincent was quite ill and I would usually feed Mr Zurik by leaving the food, making sure he ate (with Buddy) and then I would leav...

Indy’s First Home Subcut – A “success” 13th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
Here are photos of Indy’s first home subcut, done this morning. I decided to use Ming-Yi’s bedroom upstairs because downstairs has too many distractions.
Indy…!!
Yes? You called?
We are doing this so that you will feel better, okay? Just relax….
Lift skin, needle in…okay, not as thick-skinned as “DragonBunny”. Haha…
He fidgeted all the way. I don’t blame him, of course.
But Indy is very strong…
Oh…quickly, ...

Vegan Film Viewed 55,000 Times After Aussie Protest 12th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
The protest was on the horrendous cruelty in factory farms. It wasn’t to force people to give up meat. There are sources of meat which do not originate from factory farms.
However, to get people to give up meat from factory farms is still a very uphill task.
If only slaughterhouses had glass walls…..
It is no wonder that slaughterhouses are always located far away from populated areas so that the screams cannot be heard.
The news: http...

Getting Indy To Drink More Water 12th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
According to this article: https://www.preventivevet.com/cats/h ow-much-water-cats-need-tips-for-preventing-dehydr ation, Indy (5.2kg) should drink about 9 ounces of water daily, and that would be about 270ml, which is quite a lot!
Assuming he gets half of that from his wetfood (based on the article), there’s still another 135ml more to go. I think that’s doable.
Being such a hot day today, I tried the ice cubes in water.
They were curious, but no, the floating ice cubes didn&...

What Bunny Wants, Bunny Gets 12th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
Ever since the “wall” came down (that would be the netting on the grille), the boys have taken back the room. Cow is always beside me on the table while Bunny gets the wooden chair.
But today, Cow got the wooden chair.
Bunny: Who has taken my chair??
But I want my chair….
You cannot say “no” to Bunny. Bunny is blind and is one of our most senior cats. And of course, he has the cutest face too!
So, I gave up my chair for Bunny.
Thankfully, Bunny lets me sha...
