Zurik’s Update 18th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
I’ve been doing my best to find out about the Rivalta Test and so far, there are two clinics that has done it before. In yesterday’s post, if you viewed the video, you’d see how relatively easy it can be done. It just needs a test-tube, water, a few drops of vinegar and one drop of the pleural effusion. Then, hope that the jellyfish will NOT appear.
The vet kept Zurik’s effusion aspirated from yesterday. I was told that the test “failed” yesterday because the...

Indy’s Water Intake 18th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
Indy has to drink more water in our attempt to get his creatinine level down (if at all possible) so that we can do his dental scaling and tooth extraction. Actually, among the four of them, Indy has the worst dental hygiene because of the presence of pus in his mouth.
However, due to the high creatinine reading, the procedure cannot be done yet.
But Indy is a kibble king, so this probably adds to the problem of insufficient water intake.
He used to drink a lot from the running tap and this happ...

Bunny’s Updates 18th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
I updated the vet about Bunny every day. Compared with Cow, Bunny’s recovery from the dental procedure was significantly slower. I was worried for the first two days. But now, he is almost back to normal behaviour.
The vet said one of the reasons could be Bunny’s reaction to the transdermal Tramadol. Maybe the dosage was too high and it made Bunny sleepy. So, we reduced it to 0.1ml instead of 0.2ml. Also, I don’t think he needs it much longer as he hasn’t shown symptoms ...

17 DOGS NEED RESCUE
DRUNK ABUSERS "HAVE FUN" WITH POUND DOGS
We are in a frantic mission today to rescue 17 dogs from a pound where men have repeatedly abused and killed dogs in unspeakable ways. This takes place in Targu Neamt, Romania where they've now sealed the shelter and will not give the dogs food and water. They are bragging that they are abusing the dogs hidden from view.
"They are bragging they were drunk and went to the shelter to 'have a lot of fun," Harmony Fund's Debbie Evans e...

The Rivalta Test For FIP 17th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
This is how the Rivalta Test is done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmOk2ve unqA&fbclid=IwAR0iaN0Le0YEGA84IQUcm85hIYFES74g TTdDdISeBHngWvRERHC0aTqqwLU
Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivalta_t est
I got this from the FIP Advisory Group. They have been so helpful.
If the “jellyfish” appears – that’s a “positive” result and it means the cat has an 86% chance of having FIP.
If the effusion diffuses into nothingness, no “jellyfish&rd...

Zurik’s Visit To The Vet’s – It’s Not Toxoplasmosis 17th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare
I’ve just returned from the vet’s with Zurik. He was so good in the car, to and fro.
An ultrasound was done for the lungs, there was presence of fluids in the right cavity again and very little in the left. We had about 40ml of yellow effusion sucked out from the right lung this time. Zurik was incredibly good throughout the procedure. Even the vet remarked that he is “such a good cat”. The left lung had just a wee bit and the vet says it was too little to be...
