Zurik’s Portraits

Tomorrow is Zurik’s check-up at the vet’s. It would be 77 days after diagnosis.
Two weeks ago, we took another bold step and tapered down his steroids to 2.5mg once in two days. Tomorrow, we shall see if there is any further fluid build-up or it is status quo (as it had been for the past 56 days).
I can only hope that tomorrow will be another milestone for Zurik.

Heidi And Her Tunnel

If you remember, after Ginger (our prime suspect, that is) sprayed massively on Heidi’s tunnel, Heidi refused to enter her tunnel again. This was after we cleaned and sunned the tunnel.
So, the tunnel was left uninhabited for weeks.
Until yesterday…..
All it took was just to move the tunnel to a different location, and Heidi went in again, but Ginger followed suit. I think Ginger is very jealous of Heidi’s tunnel.

We Brought Our Interns To The Turtle Conservation ..

We brought our interns to the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre in Rantau Abang. There's so much information in the centre, their exhibits are nicely done and there are a few selfie/wefie areas.

If you haven't been, it's a good place to learn about sea turtles and painted terrapins, as well as the threats that they face, conservation efforts taken by @dofmalaysia and the relevant legislation that are protecting these turtles.

We had recently conducted the first session of our annual "Turtle Awareness Programme" with students from S. K. Bukit Kuang, Kemaman on Tuesday, 25th June 2019. A total of 40 students and 4 teachers participated in the programme. Dr. Pelf gave a talk about turtle diversity and the importance of turtles and and how we could help save them from extinction. We have provided an aid of RM360 for the neutering of these 3 dogs.

These dogs are from a palm oil estate in Ipoh. I found a pack of dogs kept in poor condition while rescuing a dog with a container stuck on the head. Some are having skin problem. I have vaccinated some and some puppies died out of Parvo virus. Currently I’m feeding the area. I am planning to spay the females. These 3 dogs are from the area and they have been vaccinated.
