During the SWSE 2020, UMT’s fish research team surveyed the upstream of Sg. Setiu and Sg. Bintang located in the catchment area of Setiu Wetlands to document a fish inventory.

"Sharp plastics can rupture internal organs and bags can cause intestinal blockages leaving turtles unable to feed, resulting in starvation. Even if they survive, consuming plastic can make turtles unnaturally buoyant, which can stunt their growth and lead to slow reproduction rates."

Birds are good indicators of biodiversity and environmental health. Recognizing this, a bird inventory was conducted by the team from PERHILITAN Terengganu during the SWSE 2020.
Undertaken along a 5km stretch of mangrove and coastal forest on the fringes of Setiu lagoon at Benting Lintang, the inventory employed a combination of methods that included capturing birds using mist nets and detection of birds via calls and direct observations.

Tasha, next to Bolt & Jacky was found to have growing tumors at the hip and paws.
Tasha has been scheduled for the removal tumor surgery to run a cancer diagnosis test.

Second Chance shelter was established since Sept 2009 with 12 abandoned 1 month old pups.
Now the shelter is going to be 11 years old. Many of our rescued doggies are growing older & Jacky was one of them 😌😌😌
Jacky, was rescued on Oct 2010 when he was a 2 months old pup.
