Small Pleasant Surprises From First Fieldwork

Hisyam Nasir joined the Panda family in 2019 as a Programme Assistant in Sarawak Conservation Programme. Two weeks before the country went into movement control order on 18 March 2020 due to COVID-19, he was out doing fieldwork, installing camera traps in the interiors of Kapit Division, Sarawak. While trekking in the forest, Hisyam slipped and saw something beautiful. This #ThrowbackWednesday, he shared his first fieldwork experience with WWF-Malaysia.

These 3 pups aged about 3.5 months were being harrased by 7 young men on motorbikes bikes weilding sticks at a shoplot nearby Mydin Subang. They are human friendly thought the boys were playing with them.
A Makcik selling nasi kukus there said -

We receive many PMs from rescuers asking us to post for funds for their rescues. However, they give us their personal account number and get offended when we ask them for the clinic account numbers. Out of the countless requests we get, only a couple of rescuers have given us the clinic number for direct transfers.
