Grady O'possum was rescued in a drain, covered in glue from a rat trap. After some oil baths, he's a playful, energetic kitty with a heart of gold!
He adores company, especially from fellow felines. Despite losing some fur during his ordeal, his spirit never wavered. Now, he's radiating charm with his cute pink nose and endless energy!

Indy, As Stoic As Ever And Reflections On Life

I slept next to Indy last night.
In the middle of the night, he came out from the carrier and sat on the floor. He looked “well”. I gave him some water by syringe too and he did not reject it. At this stage, it’s all about how well I can “read” what Indy wants. It’s not easy, but I try my best. I know from my limited experience in caring for end-stage animals that once they reject food, we must not force it on them.

Indy Is Alert And Drinks Japanese Milk

Indy is getting more alert.
I gave him another dose of Sucralfate (it is to coat the stomach to patch up any bleeds) and decided to try some Glucolin water. I was surprised that he didn’t mind it at all.
So I tried some Japanese milk and Indy didn’t object, he swallowed all of it, given bit by bit. It was very little as I didn’t want to push it. But if he doesn’t protest, at least that’s some food for him.

This morning we planned to catch 3 male dogs in Bukit Tunku that Leni has been feeding for a while now but ended up managing to get a bonus 4th extremely difficult mama dog that we have been trying to get for a long time. It was a challenging case as it took months for these dogs to trust the feeders to start entering and eating from her compound.

Indy Wakes Up From The Morphine

Indy was given a small dose of morphine at the vet’s so that he could sleep comfortably under sedation.
After about five hours, Indy woke up!
The oxygen concentrator arrived at 3pm, earlier than expected. The delivery man was so kind, he rushed it over. Ming-Yi and I immediately installed it and we could see it helped Indy take deeper breaths.

Keeping Vigil Beside Indy

The Blondies and I are keeping vigil beside Indy now.
Indy is sleeping quietly. His breathing is regular and not laboured at all.
He is at peace.
This probably did not happen suddenly. But Indy showed absolutely no signs. However, at Stage 4 CKD, there really is nothing more we could do.
I requested enough painkillers to keep him as comfortable as possible. The vet had also given him something to stop the vomiting (Ranitidine and Maropitant).
He is sleeping very peacefully now.
