Fishing nets are a hazard to painted terrapins, as they can get trapped in them, unable to surface. As terrapins breathe with lungs, they need to surface in order to obtain oxygen. Once a terrapin is trapped in a fishing net, if not quickly rescued, it will eventually drown.

Our beautiful Sandy passed away in her sleep last night. The cancer had spread to her lungs and ravaged her old body. Sandy is extra special.
She came to us in a batch of 18 dogs that were rendered homeless after their owner commited suicide in early 2014. She was the mother of 16 of the dogs that belonged to various litters. This doggo named Sendayan Girl will be euthanised. She was rescued by an independant rescuer and you have contributed towards her care and chemo. She will need more chemo, but the prognosis is bad and she may not live through another round. The cancer is also growing and spreading and to keep her going is prolonging her suffering.
