On 18 January, WWF-Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources held a workshop in Kuching to generate awareness and understanding on what PES is. It also covered topics on criteria and requirements for effective PES; how PES can be used to support good watershed management; and solutions for tradeoffs in watershed protected areas.

My name is Doris, and I was taken from my mother at only 8 weeks old 😥💔. I was too young to remember much, but the trauma of that early separation and abandonment still haunts me to this day 😥 The person who took me away dumped me in the garden of a Soi Dog volunteer. That was a lucky shot, as I was then brought to the shelter where they have been taking great care of me ever since. ðŸ˜ðŸ¶ðŸ¾

Thongtae was as stiff as a statue when we first met him. We didn't know what was wrong with him but it was clear that he needed urgent help. I am Paloka, and I would like to tell you my sad, sad story. I was extremely terrified and timid when I arrived at Soi Dog in 2018. My heart was beating so fast I had to be sedated so the vets could examine me 😱😱 Turns out I had a severe ear infection, and one of my legs was badly injured. I couldn’t walk, and I screamed when the vets tried to touch it. How this happened is a secret that only I know. And I carry this trauma with me every day.

Biscuit was tied to bench in park by the only person who ever knew him. He waited and waited and waited some more. But his 'person' never returned.
When you see how thin Biscuit is, you realized that abandonment may have been a blessing in disguise. Now he has a chance to be loved, to eat heartily, to sleep in a cozy bed and take adventures on a leash - a new leash- that takes him only to happy places.

These two dogs were brought in to us this week, believe they've been abandoned.
On the left is a dog which we were told was left abandoned for many days at a car park at the Halab Restaurant in Chulia Street. The one on the right was found wandering in the Taman Tun Sardon area and was brought in. Hope someone can help recognise their owners!! Do call us on 042816559 if you recognise these dogs.
