Industrial Farming Of Livestock A Ticking Pathogen Bomb, Scientists Say 2nd Jun 2020, by SPCA Selangor
The way livestock is raised in industrial-scale farming not only skews biodiversity, it also creates a pathogen bomb for potential disease outbreaks, experts say.
“Cheap chicken, cheap cow, it’s the creation of a pathogen factory … [it] looks like an efficient system, but the costs of failure – and the risk – is high,” said Richard Kock, a professor of wildlife health and emerging diseases at the University of London’s Royal Veterinary College. “It sits there as a time bomb.”

It's Been A Challenging Mco Period For Us And The .. 31st May 2020, by SPCA Selangor
It's been a challenging MCO period for us and the animals too, like this poor pup and her siblings who were rescued yesterday and brought in to us -- full of ticks, malnourished and scared.
Over the last 2 months, we have had a significant drop in visitors, adoptions and donations. We need your help to help us continue our work for the animals -- sheltering and rehoming rescued animals, education programs, low-cost/high-volume spay-neuter, government lobbying and our Stray Free Selangor campaig...

Go Cage-Free. Most Egg-Laying Hens Live Their Enti.. 25th May 2020, by SPCA Selangor
GO CAGE-FREE!
• Most egg-laying hens live their entire lives in battery cages smaller than a letter-sized piece of paper!

✅ Cage-free and free-range farms are imperfect but are still an improvement from cages!

Another happy rescue tale! A kind feeder informed us the cat stuck in rat glue trap. We took her back, cleaned her up nicely (those glue are nothing to be scoff about, expect a lot of cooking oil bath), spayed her, and released her after she's recovered.
IN 2019, with your help:
▶ 385 rescued animals rehomed
▶ 1,830 participants in educational activities @ SPCA
▶ 1,081 participants in educational talks outside SPCA
▶ 2,409 spay-neuters subsidized under Stray Free Selangor
