Rescues & Cruelty Cases

MARCH 2012 - Taman Kok Lean - This cat pictured above was rescued by an animal rescuer several weeks ago after being scalded with hot water by a cruel food stall owner. The animal rescuer had been feeding and neutering the strays in the area, but says that the food stall owner is responsible for the deaths of 3-4 cats. The cat is currently being cared for in the SPCA office, while the case has been forwarded to the DVS for their investigation.

Update on Salak Selatan dog: SPCA Inspectors visited the premises on March 12, but the owner wasn't in so they left a notice for the owner to contact them asap. They made a follow up visit on March 14, but the owner claimed the dog had passed away the day before. She says a neighbour informed her that another neighbour had poured hot water on the dog when she wasn't around (as the dog is kept outside the compound and easily accessible.) She does not want to pursue any legal action, and isn't off...

11 March 2012 - This 1-year-old 'Magnificent Mongrel' was adopted by Mr Liew and his family. It was hard to get a good photo as he was not able to contain his excitement and happiness - hopping around while waiting to get into the car and go to his new forever home!

Hi all, latest update from our Inspectorate regarding the Section17 case:
"We went to the restaurant this morning but the wanton mee seller (Mr Wai) was not in. Talked to the owner of Lucky restaurant and apparently 2 government officials came yesterday (the owner said they wore uniforms) and told the Mr Wai that he has to go to their office in Shah Alam today otherwise he will be locked up in the police station (we assume they are from DVS!). 1) first witness
2) rescuers' contacts
3) dog's location/clinic attended

Hi guys, thanks for your alerts but please stop flooding our Wall with the photos of the Section17 dog, yes we're aware of this case and we will investigate. We need a witness statement, thus far we have not had anyone come forward. Also having the dog examined by a vet immediately is crucial as the report can be used to support the case, so the dog needs to be located asap!

Hi all, with regards to the recent case of animal abuse in Section17, PJ where a vendor scalded a dog badly with hot water - though widely circulated on Facebook, SPCA Selangor is appealing to the actual witnesses to come forward. Reports will need to be made with the police and with the Dept of Veterinary Services (DVS), and the dog will need to be given a medical examination by the DVS. Happy Tails : Jojo & Chiko
4 MARCH - Two lucky shelter dogs found new homes this weekend! Jojo the 4-year-old female Shih-tzu went home with Mugilaveni Ramakrishnan and family, while lovely 3-year-old Chiko the terrier-X was adopted by Mr Alex Tan. Many thanks to these two adopters for giving our dogs a new lease on life!
