Thank You Very Much (February 2019 Donors) 28th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
As far as the neutering aid is concerned, this month is the slowest moving month since we started in May 2009!
Reasons for this, as reported earlier, could be due to (1) Chinese New Year, (2) the graduation of many long-time applicants and (3) the requirement for ear-notching for females.
We have had to turn down quite a number of female animal claims this month because their applicants just assumed that leeway would be given to them for not notching the female animals’ ears (among the rea...

“Vincent Has Perked Up” (says The Vet!) 27th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
Let’s start the story from this morning.
Just like yesterday, Vincent wanted to eat, but the pain from the mouth and tongue ulcers must be preventing him from eating.
Last night I tried very hard to recall what was it that turned him around in July/August 2018 when his mouth ulcers were SO bad (like craters on the moon) and he lost weight until less than 2.5kg. Then, I remembered! It was the painkiller (cream applied on the inside of the ear) – Tramadol! So I quickly texted the vet ...

Vincent’s Supper 26th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
We came back from taiji at about 9.45pm and Vincent walked out to greet us.
He wanted food, so I offered him whatever we had, but he could not eat it. I also know that with Vincent, he shuns the foods associated with his most recent vomiting, hence, that would be the raw fillet and liver. No wonder he spat out a piece of raw liver when I placed it in his mouth.
That vomiting episode was the start of his downhill this time, so that experience must be still fresh in his mind – especial...

Vincent’s Lunch 26th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
Vincent was very interested in lunch.
Unfortunately, he still could not eat on his own.
But he allowed me to force-feed him a tablespoon of Recovery. That was at 1pm.
At 5pm, it was time for his antibiotic, so I took the opportunity to feed him again. This time, he resisted. It must be the pain on the tongue due to the ulcers. But the vet had said that if he doesn’t eat, the stomach acid will cause the whole digestive tract to “burn” and that would be very uncomfortable and pa...

Zurik And Buddy 26th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
Zurik is clearly fond of his buddy, Buddy.
But Buddy is a food snatcher, so every day, I have to battle it out with Buddy when it’s feeding time. Zurik eats very slowly while Buddy just swallows his food (probably without chewing). Then, he goes for Zurik’s food.
Sometimes, I have to resort to shooing Buddy away just so that Zurik can eat in peace.
It’s a daily affair.
Ginger: I don’t like Buddy because he snatches food. We don’t snatch food. We eat our own, and...

The Battle Of The Hole Continues….with The Green Clip 26th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
Cow has been biting the cables off the hole until he could come in. And spray.
So, this morning, husband decided to put a clip at the hole.
Initially, the clip made the hole too small, so nobody could come in. Even the girls could not. So, I placed the clip a little bit further, thereby enlarging the hole by a wee bit.
Only then did Cleo try.
And she made it! Yay!
Pole: I cannot, I just cannot. I cannot go through the hole.
Pole, you are smaller than Cleo, so if Cleo can, why can’t you?...

Vincent Shows Interest In Food 26th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
This morning, I was greeted by Vincent as I came downstairs.
He had already removed that blue tape-cloth from the IV-pod.
Vincent came to the kitchen to join everyone for breakfast. I offered all that he eats, but he couldn’t eat any. He was interested in the food, but could not bring himself to eat.
I even offered Monge kibble (which he used to love), but of course he could not eat that.
It’s okay, Vincent. We can try later on.
Vincent went back to his bathroom to sit. Then...

Vincent Is Home, But… 25th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
Vincent is home now.
I reached the vet’s at about 6pm this evening. Vincent was fast asleep, so I decided not to wake him. He was on drips and also mildly sedated due to the medicines. I went in to peek at him several times. Finally, I called him softly and he woke up and was excited. He rolled over and wanted me to pet him.
The vet showed me his blood test results and none of the readings were alarming except for the white blood cell reading which was very high, indicative of an in...

A HUGE Scare From Vincent 25th Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
It started on Saturday night.
Vincent had been very happily eating his raw fillet and raw liver for a few days now. I had suspected that the return to raw fillet could be due to mouth ulcers but since he was eating heartily, I decided to leave well enough alone.
On Saturday morning, I had already given him his Omeprazole (antacid, which acts as an anti-gastric).
But that night, about 2-3 hours after a HUGE (really, really huge) meal of raw chicken fillet and liver, I found vomit upstairs –...

Anti-Rabies Vaccination Aid To End On 28th February 2019 23rd Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
We offered an anti-rabies vaccination aid for Perak dogs as our immediate response to the news of the planned “zero stray dog policy” in Perak, on 1st February 2019: https://myanimalcare.org/2019/02/01/neu tering-and-anti-rabies-vaccination-aid-for-perak-a -special-project/
Sadly (or maybe not), there were no takers for this offer. We requested the help of Perak friends to help publicise this offer widely too. No one has applied for it.
When we asked a Perak applicant, he says t...

Vincent’s Updates 23rd Feb 2019, by AnimalCare
Vincent has shifted his “nest” to under our bed again.
He has also developed this habit of peeing on me in the middle of the night, which is quite a bit of a problem. I guess it’s an attention-seeking act. Even our part-time cleaner said, “Oh, dia mahu sayanglah”, and she is right.
The consolation is that I know he can still produce urine, which is very crucial for a cat with last stage kidney failure.
Prior to this, he chose to pee right outside our bathroom, which...

This case is sponsored by Avant Pet Sdn Bhd.
Hi Dr.
Here are information about three cats:
1. Male #1 (Manir, K Terengganu)
Found this stray near my taman perumahan, always fighting and pee all around houses here. So, I am afraid of something bad will happen to this tabby, then I could catch him.
