Good News On The Horizon For Street Animals? 23rd Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
I received two pieces of good news yesterday.
The first was a forwarded message from a feeder in the Shah Alam area saying she met the MBSA dog unit who informed her that they no longer send captured dogs to PAWS anymore. Instead, the caught dogs will be neutered and released! The staff was polite and friendly too. They even said that they had come to check because of complaints, but if said dogs did not chase people, they would not catch them. Can you believe this???
The second news was a faceb...

We have provided an aid of RM150 for the neutering of this female cat, Little Princess.
This is a joint claim from Mdm Lee Kim Hai and Mdm Pong Yit Sim. I have video-called Mdm Pong already to confirm that she has agreed to let Mdm Lee get all her cats neutered.
Mdm Lee contacted me on 10th June 2024 to inform me that a distant neighbour, Mdm Pong, has 9 cats in her house but has difficulty looking after them because she herself has financial and medical problems. It started with Mdm Pong feelin...

A Peaceful Porch Today 22nd Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Creamy did not turn up. That’s why.
So it’s all peaceful at the porch today. Socks also did not come.
That’s good. Perhaps their families are back from the long holidays.
Sometimes, Gerald is willing to share from a same plate, but sometimes, no.
Nowadays, I can add a generous amount of water or soup to the wet canned food. It’s always good to drink more fluids, especially for cats.
I can even add water to Tabs and Riley’s food. In fact, Tabs lick up all the adde...

Updates On Grey (from Lee Soo Farng) 22nd Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Photos and news on Grey!
For the very, very first time last night, Grey used the litter box for big business! Soo Farng was totally overjoyed!
But it was short-lived joy….
This morning, it was back to pooping outside the litter box again. Still, last night was a huge achievement.
Work in progress, it’s okay.
Soo Farng told me she’s getting better at expressing Grey’s urine too. Practice makes perfect!

The Creamy Incursion 21st Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Creamy came again this morning.
But this time, it looked like it wasn’t to eat. He wasn’t hungry.
He just came to bully Gerald and Misty. And it wasn’t anything physically aggressive too. It was a silent incursion. His presence was enough to incite fear in poor Gerald and Misty.
I first offered some food to him, but he wasn’t here to eat.
Misty was hungry but she was way too scared to eat. Sigh…
Gerald also wanted to eat, and he too was too scared of Creamy.
As m...

Who Is Samantha’s Favourite Daughter? 20th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Samantha has three daughters – Kai, Akira and Indra.
Is Riley also her daughter from an earlier batch? We don’t know.
So, who is Samantha’s current favourite daughter?
Undoubtedly, it’s Kai, her eldest!
https://animalcare.my/wp-content/uploads/ 2024/06/4-v.mp4
While Akira and Indra always escapes to the house every day to play, Kai stays behind with her mum.
At one time, her favourite daughter was Akira. We thought it was a colour coded preference, both being calico. P...

Creamy Visits Again…and Is Very Hungry!! 20th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Must be the long holidays….
Creamy came to visit today and was very, very hungry!
Hi, Creamy!! Long time no see.
He seemed very, very hungry but was a bit worried about Gerald.
Hunger overcame all fear.
Misty joined him!
Perhaps he has not even for quite awhile?
That’s Misty’s leftovers, but Creamy is still eating.
Gerald and Misty wanted to eat too.
But one thing I did notice is that his heavy breathing is totally gone! This is such a relief. I noticed this heavy brea...

Gerald And Misty’s Patience 20th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
It had rained early this morning, so the park was wet. Whenever this happens, Gerald and Misty will not go to the park but instead, they will wait patiently on the ledge for me as I walk round and round the neighbourhood.
Look at them! Such loyal cats.
An acquaintance in the neighbourhood asked if we wanted this cat tree because her cats aren’t using it at all. So, why not? Since Misty doesn’t have a scratcher. Moreover, Misty is afraid of thunder so that box might be a good hiding...

JoTong’s Latest Rescue Project And Reflections 19th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
This is JoTong’s story:
These past few weeks I have been helping a feeder from my taman to catch and neuter cats abandoned by a tenant who moved out last month. According to the feeder, tha tenant just released the cats out from her compound. As to date, we have caught 4 and sent for neutering already. So irresponsible of that tenant.
The neutering costs are borne by this feeder (luckily) as she takes care of the cats after the surgery before releasing them back to the street. So she...

Blondies, After A Rey Attack 19th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
The Blondies’ meals are usually disturbed by a visit by Gerald on the ledge or a Rey incursion.
In the morning, it’s always Gerald’s visit that distracts them. They would get all excited; a bit too excited to want to eat.
In the evening, like this evening, it was Rey launching a full scale attack at Stargate2, with only Indra defending the territory. Akira and Kai were both very scared.
Rey was climbing up all the way up Stargate2 repeatedly, with war cries. It does remind me o...

Akira And Indra On A Cold Rainy Day 17th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Why is Akira sleeping amongst Jayden’s books?
Because Indra had taken her favourite chair.
Oh well….why wait for Indra to vacate the chair, just sleep.
Indra also has the same plan.
Until Indra decides it’s much more comfortable next to me on the bed.
Yay! I got back my chair!!!
Indra really knows how to make herself very comfortable.
I’m happy as long as I have my chair….

The Monsters’ Cat Tree (video By Golden Triology) 17th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
This is long overdue!
Gold Triology made this video of the Monsters’ cat tree some weeks back. I told them I would post it on the blog.
https://animalcare.my/wp-content/uploads/202 4/06/WhatsApp-Video-2024-05-21-at-2.34.01-PM.mp4
I t is a very sturdy cat tree, after reinforcements were made, that is! But that’s the good thing about Golden Triology. They take so much pride in their work and they will do it until it’s their best possible version for your cats’ needs.

The Blondies’ Morning 17th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
It was a 66.7% success at breakfast today with Indra abstaining from eating breakfast. I really don’t know how she can be the heaviest (yet youngest) Blondie when she abstains from eating so often.
I don’t include Samantha in the equation because she eats. She isn’t a problematic eater, only her daughters are.
This is Kai with her mom. Kai ate this morning.
Akira ate too. Look at her big round eyes! And that little pink nose!
Indra didn’t want to eat and decided to com...

Gerald And Misty 17th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
Here’s Gerald and Misty today, accompanying me at the park and later, for gardening.
Always best friends forever!
Safely back in the porch now.
Hmm….interesting smells!
Misty still gets her kibble snack when she asks for it, but at least she is now willing to eat wet food without the need to top it with a few pellets of kibble. That is already an achievement.
Gerald doesn’t care for kibble at all. I wish he could teach his daughters this healthy eating habit….
The ...

Reverting To The No-Succession Plan 16th Jun 2024, by AnimalCare
You might remember that ever since AnimalCare started on 31st May 2009, I have been running all the day-to-day operations. As a registered society, we also have an Executive Committee and we vote on important decisions pertaining to AnimalCare as a registered society.
For years, I had been looking for a successor to take over AnimalCare when I can no longer run it but have been unsuccessful.
Last year, in October 2023, I asked a few younger friends to ponder over the possibility that instead of ...
