Not Ginger’s Turn, But Bunny And Indy’s
11th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

I remembered that Cow needed 5 days’ antibiotics before his dental scaling and extraction, so I asked the vet if Ginger needed it too, especially since Ginger is also FIV+. The vet said yes, it would be better to do the antibiotics prophylaxis. This means, Ginger cannot get his dental done today. Instead, the vet said I could bring Bunny and Indy for a review and follow-up blood test. So, after work, I quickly went home and managed to put both of them into a carrier each (not so easy, sinc...

Ginger’s Turn Today
11th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

Today is Ginger’s turn to go to the vet’s for a review and if his blood test is “okay” and everything else is okay, it would be his turn for the scaling and extraction of one bad tooth. I decided Ginger would be next because his previous BUN and creatinine readings were within the normal range (lowest compared to everyone else) though his SDMA was at 15. I discussed this with the vet and she agreed that Ginger should be next. After all, the bad tooth has to be extracted ...

Their Only “crime” Is To Exist
11th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

Ideally, we wish the local councils would not catch street animals. Ideally, we wish the majority of humans would accept the presence of street animals in our environment. There are animal organisations (like ours) and there are caregivers who would gladly do their very best to get these animals neutered and returned to their colonies. And everyone, human and animal, can live harmoniously and peacefully without resorting to killing. That is the ideal world. I was just chatting with a fellow anim...

“Kuning” Makes A Beeline To The Back
9th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

Ginger escaped this evening due to a partially opened door. When I saw the small gap at the door, I immediately went out and spotted Ginger on the ledge, making a beeline to the back. He looked VERY determined. I kept calling him back, rushed in to get the kibble jar, but nothing worked. Unfortunately, I had also just fed him so he wasn’t hungry. I tried very hard to get him back, and was a little glad that he stopped halfway and turned around, but he was still reluctant to come back. It w...

Cerita Kuning Continues…
9th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

I got the rest of “Kuning’s cerita” this morning. For those who did not read Kuning’s earlier post, “Kuning” is the codename for our Ginger, given by our part-time cleaner, Sara. According to my husband, Ginger chased FluffyWhite down to the alley yesterday (Note: FluffyWhite was not in our porch to begin with, so Ginger must have hunted him down). They were then engaged in a physical lock-body fight for a few seconds before it was stopped by a shout from the ...

Animal Activists Shut Down Streets And Storm Slaughterhouses
9th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you and then you win.”   One step at a time…   This would be one of the hardest fights because it challenges the pleasures of the tongue. There is moral instinct in all of us, but for many, the tongue still wins.   https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/0 8/australia/australia-animal-rights-protests-intl/ index.html
