The Bullying Continues
5th May 2019, by AnimalCare

It’s becoming a culture?? It started with Heidi bullying poor Zurik. Then, Ginger bullied him. Poor Zurik….  It’s really bad to hit a person when he’s down, right? So, who bullied who today? Zurik bullied Heidi AND Tabs! Yes, Zurik was the perpetrator this time. But to be totally fair, I didn’t see it start.  I just heard loud repeated shrieking and by the time I rushed out of Bunny’s Room, I saw fur flying, Heidi was on the alert waiting to run for...

Zurik’s Portrait Time!!
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

Today is a happy day for Zurik and all of us! I took some really nice portrait shots of him. He looks so alert, doesn’t he? Look at those eyes!! Whooohoooo…..lookin’ good! Oops..wrong cat, this is Heidi! Fuh! Look at those ears!! Immediately, I am reminded of one of my favourite villains… Loki, brother of Thor! He has the eyes and the “ears”! Yes, those menacingly eyes…yes, yes. Oops, wrong cat!! Haha… Actually, Ginger wanted to have a...

Of Honesty, Sincerity, Goodwill And Trust – It Shows, It Shines
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

I just endured the most unpleasant encounters with not one, but TWO unreasonable and rather impolite applicants today. It’s very hard to communicating with such people. One was downright rude and thinks that we have no right to change our policies. She also refused to read the policy page. The other refuses to read whatever I had written in our communication and hurls unfair accusations at me because she jumps to conclusions of her own and puts words into my mouth. Doesn’t written co...

Vaccination Aid For 3 Dogs In Gelang Patah (Nujtiya Chareansouk’s)
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

We have provided an aid of RM75 for the vaccination of 3 dogs. 4F is not claimed from us because the adopter missed the deadline for the second vaccination. It is unfortunate that dog owners do not take vaccination deadlines seriously.  By missing the deadline for the booster by 7 weeks, the immunity would have gone down and thus, the first vaccination only provided 4 weeks of protection and now, the immunity has to be built up again (this booster would have to be followed by another booste...

Neutering Aid For 2 Dogs In Mantin (Derek Hoo Ngai Lik’s)
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

We have provided an aid of RM200 for the neutering of these 2 dogs. Derek has also provided photos of the previous 3 dogs he claimed from us (please see below). Dear Dr. Chan, These dogs were rescued from near a shoplot area. I’ve been feeding it on alternate weeks for about a year before taking them to the vet. After neutering, I plan to release back to the same place I found them since the environment seems safe and doesnt have any presence of other people in the area. I am working on m...

Guess How Much Fluids Was Sucked Out Today?
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

We just came back from the vet’s after Zurik’s check-up. It has been ten days after his last lung cavity aspiration of fluids. During the first round of aspiration, we extracted 125ml (don’t know how much it had taken to accumulate to that much). The second was 40ml after 4 days, the third was 90ml after 7 days (an increase, on the average). Today was the fourth aspiration and it has been after TEN days. How much did we get today? Get ready…… Drum rollllllllll&hel...

Humans…you Aren’t On Top Of Everyone Else!!
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

The video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqp9BZ 29Jnk&feature=youtu.be Sadhguru: “Who the hell are you to think that an ant is a lowly creature and you are some super human being?” “If all the humans died, the world will flourish!” “The idea that this cosmos is human-centric is a stupid idea.” (my favourite quote in the entire video…indeed, STUPID it is!!)

Please Behave Like Animals!!
4th May 2019, by AnimalCare

I get really bewildered when humans do horrendous acts and some humans say of the perpetrator that “S/He is not human, s/he is an animal!!”. No, No, No, that is NOT true. That’s an insult to animals. Animals don’t do horrendous acts to anyone. At most, they only kill for food because they are carnivorous. They don’t inflict harm out of evil intentions – only humans do this. So, please stop calling a human an “animal” when the human does horrible a...

My Lightning (!) Trip To Tawau (MY & YP’s Registration)
3rd May 2019, by AnimalCare

Today was Ming-Yi and Yui Ping’s marriage registration in Tawau!! I still had to work yesterday, so I took the flight to Tawau after work.  Thankfully, I had made arrangements with my friend, Cathy, to come over to feed Zurik his medicines.  The vet had advised that Zurik should not miss a dose of steroids, so Cathy so very graciously offered to come feed Zurik.  Sihui and Jia-Wen would take care of everyone’s food, of course. I reached Tawau last night. My husband an...

Peace, Please?
2nd May 2019, by AnimalCare

There is still some ongoing tension between Zurik and Ginger. A war-cry was averted last night and again, this morning. Heidi seems to have learnt that she is not supposed to bully Zurik so that seems to have stopped. The family that eats together, stays together? Yes, please don’t fight, especially when we have all gone to work. Tabs: I will keep watch. Don’t let those eyes fool you, though. Tabs is as gentle as a lamb. She is also a scaredy cat. Looks like the tunnel belongs to...

Zurik Under Attack!
1st May 2019, by AnimalCare

There was about to be a war between Zurik and Ginger again just now. Luckily we managed to stop it in its tracks. The perpetrator went to hide under the vegetable pots. This orange-coloured chap. Bunny and Indy offered assistance. It’s okay, Bunny and Indy, we have it all under control. Many thanks! Zurik is okay. He stood his ground. Look at the eyes! The perpetrator stayed under the vegetable pots for almost 3 hours before finally coming out….to ask for dim sum!

Zurik Strikes Back!!
1st May 2019, by AnimalCare

First Heidi bullied Zurik. We stopped Heidi. Zurik went as far as fluffing himself up. Then, Ginger tried to bully him as well. Ini sudah lebih. Zurik strikes back now!! It’s about time too. On two occasions, once last night and once this morning, Zurik did a war-cry on Ginger. But Ginger is pretty clueless and does not know what danger is, so he didn’t move. I quickly carried him away before Zurik hurt him with his trademark blunt force trauma (cannot be easily detected, especially ...

And The World’s Best Cat-Brother Award Goes To…..
1st May 2019, by AnimalCare

If Daffodil received the world’s best mother-cat award, then the world’s best brother-cat award would go to….. Today was Bunny’s subcut day. Last month, Bunny’s blood test showed an SDMA reading of 18 (upper boundary for “normal” is 14).  So, I was advised to give him about 200ml subcut twice a week to help the kidneys. The SDMA test is an early detection of kidney degeneration. After having gone through last stage kidney failure with Vincent (onl...

Beluga. James Beluga. Shaken, Not Stirred
1st May 2019, by AnimalCare

Hahaha…. The video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLTSDx 8lFfo&feature=youtu.be But, on a more serious note, we maintain that no animal must be “used” by humans. Humans may serve animals, but not use them for any purpose. Mr Zurik says: Don’t insult the KGB.

Thank You Very Much (April 2019)
30th Apr 2019, by AnimalCare

It’s time again to thank everyone again for their very kind and generous support of our work. For once in the last (almost) ten years, dog neutering outnumbered cat neutering this month, but only by one! It is also probably because there were a few cat claims which were non-compliant. Some applicants still do not know our policy requirements, such as, having full names on the receipt, or the vet’s signature and stamp on the receipt, the deadline of 2 weeks, etc. Some people simply re...
