Fresh Supply Of RetroMAD1 For Zurik

Yesterday was one month after Zurik’s diagnosis of having FIP. At present, he seems to be doing as well as he can be on the following;
Prednisolone 2.5mg twice daily
RetroMAD1 0.8ml thrice daily
Vetri DMG 0.5ml daily
B Complex
Fish oil

Super-Jon’s 230km Bike Ride From Lumut To Subang Jaya! (4)

On 24th June 2019, Jon Tham will cycle from Lumut to SS18 in Subang Jaya to, once again, raise funds for AnimalCare!!
In 2014, Jon raised RM5,000 for us by running 50km. In 2015, he raised a whopping RM10,000 by running 68km and in 2016, he and his team raised RM500 for us at the Viper Challenge!
This year….Jon is going to cycle a formidable distance of 230km!!

The Bullying Continues

We had some repair work done in the porch today, so the Blanket Cats were a little stressed.
Of course Heidi wasn’t the least bit affected, as usual, but Tabs was scared, so she went to hide in her bomb shelter, which is the storeroom.

Reading Down…the Countdown Begins For Indy!!

Yay!!
Indy’s creatinine has gone down from the previous reading of 238 one month ago in April to today’s reading of 174 (within normal range). Exactly a month of alternate-day subcut. Hydration works!!
The vet says we can now reduce his subcut to twice a week, at 200ml each time and Indy’s scaling is now scheduled for Thursday.

Indy’s subcut was a huge challenge today.
The last one two days ago was already difficult because he fought and tensed up until blood splattered out from the needle prick. I only managed to do 150ml in the last one.
Today, he resisted and put up a fight right from the start.
I only managed to do 100ml when he started growling, hissing and fought me off. I had to let him go.

Jon suggested that he will carry a stuffed toy on his 230km bike ride and will take photos of the toy as he stops at various towns.
I thought this was a fancy and fabulous idea so I said I’d sew a stuffed toy! I asked Jon what size would be best so that it won’t be a burden for his cycling. Jon said palm-sized would be best.

As announced yesterday, Jon Tham will be cycling 230km from Lumut to Subang Jaya on 24th June 2019 to raise funds for AnimalCare again!!
Jon raised RM5000 for us in 2014, RM10,000 in 2015 and another RM500 in 2016, all in running events.

Zurik And My Finger

I weighed Zurik last night.

He tipped the scales at 4.5kg!!!
Every little bit of increase is celebratory!!!
When Zurik was first diagnosed with suspected FIP, he only weighed 3.9kg. During his hey day, he was a robust 6.5kg and even Cow lost in a fight with him. The Big Fight Between Zurik And Ginger – Averted!

A fight started between Zurik and Ginger today and we managed to nip it before it escalated into a full-scale fight with injuries on Ginger.
Zurik was sitting with me in the living room. Ginger wanted to join us and came face-to-face with Zurik.
Zurik gave him his infamous KGB-stare, but Ginger didn’t get it (he is a bit slow with such things – slow or stubborn, I cannot decide).

Heidi’s Homes

This is Heidi’s new home for today. It’s a small box where only she can fit. Zurik tried it as well but he was too big and jutted out.
But she still prefers her bomb shelter (tunnel). She takes naps inside, spends time playing “catch” with herself by dashing in and out of the tunnel. It’s fun watching her!

The Subcut Of Today

Indy needs 200ml subcut fluids every alternate day to bring down his creatinine before we can do his dental scaling. Bunny needs 150ml subcut twice a week to help with his occasional constipation problem as well as his SDMA reading of 18 (early warning for kidney degeneration).
Today, both needed their respective subcut.
Bunny’s was a non-issue. It went smoothly. But Bunny has this habit of spraying before the subcut is done. Even while sitting down, he can spray…sigh.
