Rawang Updates Last Night
27th May 2011, by AnimalCare

From Koo:There was an incident at about 11.45pm when I and 7 (!!) rescuers from Kajang (who answered Azimah's pleas for help) went to the container (my 4th time) to try to rescue the dogs starting at about 10pm. After lots of efforts to rescue the dogs, we were resting and discussing other tactics when suddenly the taman's security chief confronted us and threatened us with arrest for trespassing and other unsubstantiated far-fetched offences although we explain that we were trying to rescue the...

My O Sole Mio Kitties
27th May 2011, by AnimalCare

O Sole Mio means "The Sun" (I hope I got that right!).Here are some photo updates on my Sunny Kitties....I've been concerned about their not having pooped, but the vet assures me it's ok even if they don't poop for one week if they are on milk alone.  But she did ask me to check if they have an anus.  ???  You mean, some kittens don't have an anus, I asked.  Gosh....I never knew that.....So, the sunny kitties had not pooped ever since coming to me.  But the sun shines, e...

Honeybear Seems Better Today
26th May 2011, by AnimalCare

I fed the threesome this morning before going off the work.  They were asleep when I left for college.By the time I got home at almost 1pm, all three were still sleeping.  Then, they woke up and from 1pm till now, I have not stopped feeding them!  Not continously, of course.  Overfeeding, I was told, is more dangerous than under-feeding, the former can lead to diarrhoea and diarrhoea in kittens is a total nightmare. Rex and Fox have been mewing for milk every one hour or...

Bavani, The Volunteer Zoo-Keeper
26th May 2011, by AnimalCare

This semester, I am following up with my last semester's students in the Engineering programme.  Two days ago, Bavani, my only female student, was telling me all about her experience as a zoo-keeper with Zoo Negara.  She had been a volunteer for 3 years and it's been so exciting for her.Apparently, it's a very educational programme and absolutely hands-on.  The volunteers go into the enclosures with the vet and are taught and allowed to do many interesting things for the anim...

O Sole Mio At 4.30am
26th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Ming-Yi did the midnight shift last night as I was totally exhausted by then..... From the time I brought them back, I only had bananas....until dinner!  Bananas are good, by the way, it's energy food.   Indy wasn't too happy with the new kittens.I thought it would be safer to keep them inside the carrier while I was at work as Rex and Fox can already scale the cardboard box all the way to the top.  But this is an old carrier and the door is rusted.  We wanted ...

Rex, Fox And Honeybear (the 3 Kittens)
25th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Last night, Sze Kei found 3 kittens abandoned inside a box.  This morning I blogged for fosterers/adopters.  Sze Kei said her mother wouldn't allow her to keep the kittens.  I was also worried as Sze Kei said they kept crying all night.    So, Jason helped bring them to our panel clinic at noon today, and by then, no one had come forward to foster yet, so after our vet dewormed them, I took them home. They are with me now.  It's been alm...

Help Needed Urgently For 3 Kittens
25th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Sze Kei (019-2602884) is Powie's cousin who found the box with 3 kittens last night.  Someone had probably abandoned the poor kittens.  Sze Kei has attempted to feed them kitten milk since last night, but they were reluctant to drink.  They are also crying.  Now, Sze Kei's mother would not let her keep the kittens, so she needs a fosterer or adopter urgently to look after these kittens. Can you help?  Do you know of anyone who can?  If so, please contact Sze Ke...

25th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Remember Rascal?  Rascal and Minnie were Punitha's rescues.  They were initially adopted, but the adopter returned them after sometime because she was worried about her unborn child and how the cats would affect the child later.  Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/03/rascal-and-min nie-spayed-neutered-and.htmlPoor Rascal and Minnie were very sad the night their owner returned them.  Punitha had to get Rascal and Minnie rehomed.  Rascal, being so handsome, was adopted,...

Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/05/injured-kitten -found-in-middle-of-road.htmlJason and Powie has been in contact with me over RayRay's progress. On Saturday night, Jason asked me if our panel vet would be open on Sunday.  Apparently, RayRay has been naughtily biting his four paws and they were all bleeding.  However, Ray had been eating extremely well and was also very active, so at least that's not so worrying.  In fact, he had been so active, it was difficult to...

Lilac's Updates
24th May 2011, by AnimalCare

I had been very busy as my college has just started its new semester.  It's only today that I could find some time to visit Lilac and speak to the vet.  Lilac is bright and alert, but she still cannot walk.  There is a sort of "adhesion" between the leg and the body, and the vet needs another surgery to determine what is causing this.  The rescuer would have to be consulted if she wants this done.  There is still a swelling which indicates the leakage of urine. ...

Oh No, Not Again!! (another Spayed Cat Opened Up)
24th May 2011, by AnimalCare

Lynda called me a few days ago, requesting help to get a female cat spayed. Apparently this cat has been going to her house for a year now and she has been feeding her.  So, the cat was brought to our panel vet today, and our vet did the operation but could not find the uterus or the horns.  The cat had already been previously spayed.  Right after the operation (that could have been avoided).  Our vet has now notched her ear (to prevent her from being opened up a third time!)...

Stop The Killing Of 4 Farm Dogs In Teluk Bahang (a Petition - Please Support)
23rd May 2011, by AnimalCare

Please read the petition below and make an informed decision.  This is about saving four lives, two of which are absolutely and completely innocent.  It is preposterous and totally unacceptable that these two innocent dogs are to be put down.  As for the other two - innocent till proven guilty.  An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.  Killing is never the solution to ANY problem.  AnimalCare does not support killing of any kind, human or a...
