Updates On Lilac (second Surgery Done) 3rd Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
I went to visit Lilac today...Lilac has undergone her second operation to split the muscle between her leg and thigh. This "adhesion" was causing her to be unable to use her leg (where the IM-pin insertion had been done).Lilac can now stand up already. The next step would be to walk...The owner/rescuer (not sure of her status, actually, because two other rescuer were involved and we are hearing conflicting stories) has only asked for help for the first surgery, so we hope as the owne...

A Kitten Story 3rd Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
While I was at the clinic today, Rani showed me three kittens....These kittens had been rescued recently (pretty much like Rex, Fox and Honeybear), and Rani was feeding them milk. Then, a nursing mother-cat came in and Rani decided to put them with the mother-cat so that they could get mother's milk. After one day, all three had diarrhoea. They are unwell now. Poor things....Scary, isn't it? We're often told that the best thing for kittens is to be with a mother-cat, but as our o...

Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/05/mrs-lims-cats- spayed.htmlOur panel vet had been so, so busy during this holiday period, I have not even got a chance to speak with him until today. He told me this evening that one of Mrs Lim's cats brought in for spaying a few days ago, had already been previously spayed.Sigh....not again! This would be our 4th case now.We pay in full for such cases because the operation is done, and it actually requires more work to search for the uterus that isn't ther...

The Article In The Star 2nd Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Hi everyone, Thank you so very much for all your emails and text messages sent after you came across the article in Star Two today. I am very touched. The interview was done some months back, actually, but the article was postponed till now, and isn't that a blessing, because it was so timely. We registered with the ROS, we had the discussion with our councillor on implementing CNRM and received their support, AND we finally got our official bank account running....

What A "Lost-And-Found" Day!! 2nd Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
This morning, it was Yinyong the Rabbit who got lost. You can read all about that in the previous posting. Until now, we have not been able to locate him. I hope he's ok.Late last night, we just realised Pole had not come back for food. We went up and down the street looking for her, and my husband finally got her out from one of the neighbour's house. Ever since Pole gave birth to her litter, Cow and Bunny chased her out (sigh...territorial problems) and since then...

The Plight Of Stray Cats In Unfriendly Neighbourhoods 2nd Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Shamiela is one of the few people who have responded to my invitation to participate in CNRM in Subang Jaya. While I have been talking with vets and trying my best to get more information, working out the best deal (for both the humans and the animals), etc., I can only hope that the news will spread and more people will come forward to participate in CNRM in ways that they can.Shamiela tells me what it is like on her street, in SS19:To your question on whether the people in this area call...

A Rescued Rabbit - Adopted! 1st Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Two days ago, my friend, Julia, asked if I'd like to adopt a rescued bunny. Yes, a rabbit. Apparently, Julia's friend had rescued an imported rabbit from his neighbourhood. He had asked his neighbours, but nobody knew who this rabbit belonged to.So, Julia fostered the rabbit while I helped look for an adopter. I thought I might adopt him, but with Cow and Bunny being so territorial, and rabbits being so easily scared, that might not be a wise thing to do. ...

The Dilemma Of Doing TNRM 1st Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
The reason I had never promoted TNRM is because I have not been in favour of trapping and I honestly don't know how to do it! Hence, I coined CNRM. C = Care. And this is something which I do, too. Can't be promoting something which I don't do, right? However, I am well aware that CNRM is a slow process and results would be slow as well. Seeing how our local councillor is willing to consider our CNRM proposal now, but he wants to see some results first, I'm gam...
