Fosterer Needed Urgently For Amber 7th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Amber has been given her last TVT jab, has been spayed and will be vaccinated tomorrow. The TVT tumour has shrunk considerably and the vet says it ought to heal on its own now. She would need to be monitored for the next few weeks, just to be sure there is no relapse. As I've reported in this blog, Amber is always oh-so-happy and is about the friendliest dog I've ever met. We are currently planning to discharge her tomorrow as we should not board h...

The Sunny Kittens' New Bungalow 7th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Photo updates: The sunny kittens have migrated from their carrier to this new bungalow. Honeybear can finally suck from the bottle. No more syringe-feeding now. The three play together very happily. It reminds me of Tumble Tots! Honeybear is the first to groom himself! Bungalows aside, they still love Uncle Bobby's warmth. Good old Uncle Bobs! This is Tiger's basket. They've taken it as well!Last night, I tried ONE (just one piece) of soaked Baby Cat...

Updates On Lilac 7th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Lilac can now stand on her own, but seems to be having defecation problems. She was happily eating on her own last night when I went to see her.We will be settling the balance of the bill for Lilac's first surgery, as per requested by the rescuer. She has not contacted us ever since that one-and-only communication to ask for financial assistance where she identified herself as the rescuer of Lilac. Apparently, she has been visiting Lilac with her family, one of which is the owner of L...

Moo Moo, Neutered 7th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, Julie Pek brought a male cat, Moo Moo, to be neutered under our sponsorship. It's been some time since I last spoke with Julie. She told me that she's been publicising AnimalCare's work (thank you, Julie!) and recently managed to get some factory workers to catch the cats in the vicinity (eight, to be exact) and someone had sponsored the neutering. These cats have since been rehomed in a cat sanctuary in Segambut. It's a no-kill sanctuary. Cat rescuers ne...

TEN Times More....(from Raja Petra's Article) 5th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
A friend just forwarded an article by Raja Petra, who, with his wife, was recently in Bali for a holiday. Raja Petra described just how impressed he is with the honesty of the Balinese people. Here's an excerpt from his article:I asked one Balinese girl who was giving me a two-hour massage how come the Balinese are so honest."It is because we believe in karma," she replied."Oh," I responded, "that means whatever you do to others the same thing will happen to you (balasan yang sama)."...

An S.O.S. From Taiping 5th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
This afternoon, our vet called me. He was in the Kamunting area in Taiping and had found a mother-dog and her newborn puppies inside a drain. Tried as he did, the mother-dog was ferocious. He asked if I knew of any rescuers in Taiping.I didn't, but our vet remembered Mdm Kang, the elderly lady who single-handedly manages a dog-shelter there. So, I texted several people for Mdm Kang's number, but finally found it in my own mailbox because years ago, we had donated industrial rice...

Two Rescued Puppies For Adoption, From Steffie 5th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
We helped Steffie Chong neutered a street dog, Boy Boy, recently, whom they had adopted. Yesterday, Steffie sent an S.O.S. Apparently, she had found three puppies and they were bleeding. I texted her the vet's number (it was after 7pm and I only knew of one vet that had the emergency-call-up service). One of our volunteers guided Steffie and her mum to the vet's but they realised that the wounds were quite superficial and did not warrant emergency help. So...

Francis, The Cat-Feeder 5th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
This morning, at 6.45am, I went to SS18/5A to meet up with Francis, the cat-feeder. My friend, Bro Chim, had already spoken to Francis earlier and he was interested in doing CNRM for the cats that he feeds. There was no one at the playground yet. So, I walked down the road, just to see how many cats I could find. Here are two... They looked at me. They weren't afraid. Then I went up the playground and these happy cats came trotting towards me. How si...

More Sunny News... 4th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
I had wanted to start the Sunny Kittens on baby kibbles already, but after hearing all the horror stories resulting from the change of diet for very young kittens, I'm delaying it for a while...They are still on Pets Own Milk, but drinking like crazy....and producing nice golden-yellow poo. Urination is clear and nice too. All three can urinate on their own now. The feeding paraphernalia.Sucking for comfort, after milk.Just like human babies who suck their thumbs.Bobby, despite being blind, is t...
