Zurik’s Check-Up: Too Little Fluids!!
23rd May 2019, by AnimalCare

Today was Zurik’s check-up at the vet’s. This is after 19 days from the last pleural effusion aspiration (drawing out of fluids from right lung cavity). My heart was beating so fast when he was being checked with ultrasound. I tried to look out of the “black spots” indicative of spots with fluids. Even my untrained eye could see there were only relatively small black spots on the screen.  Yay!!  Small spots on the right lung cavity and NONE on the left! So yes, ...

Indy Is Back To 99.9%
22nd May 2019, by AnimalCare

The night right after Indy’s 7-teeth extraction, he reacted as though he was “back to normal”, eating kibble and everything, but it actually wasn’t so. Maybe, he was still in a state of euphoria at the time. The next day, after all the numbing had dissipated, Indy was not his usual self. This went on for quite a few days. Although he was on Tramadol, the transdermal painkiller (cream), he was still not back to his normal self, and understandably so, as a 7-teeth extractio...

Ongoing Wars Involving Zurik
20th May 2019, by AnimalCare

There were a few wars in the house today. They all involved Mr Zurik. One would think that Mr Zurik was the perpetrator, but I think it wasn’t Mr Zurik…. It started with Zurik, Heidi and a lot of fur flying. It was accompanied by screams as well. I found Zurik and Heidi in a standoff. Next, Zurik chased poor Tabs. Of course in this one, there was no doubt at all that Tabs was the victim. And after this, another round between Zurik and Heidi. And it ended with Zurik chasing Ginger un...

Indy Is STILL On Medical Leave
20th May 2019, by AnimalCare

Indy is still not back to his usual self yet. He spent practically all of yesterday lying on the cushions on Cleo’s bench and Cow accompanied him last night. Today again, he was on the cushions most of the time. I handfed him AD whenever he had to take his medicine. At other times, he expressed interest in food and joined everyone else for their meals, but he wasn’t back to his old eating habit yet. He doesn’t seem to like his “old favourite” kibble anymore (I&rs...

Lanky Comes A-Visiting…again
19th May 2019, by AnimalCare

Ever since Vincent’s passing, Lanky has been trying very hard to join our inside colony.  He has been coming to the porch every now and then, and also visiting Bunny’s Place from the ledge at the back. Then, ever since Zurik came to live indoors (since he was diagnosed with FIP), Buddy stopped coming so, that freed up even more “space” for Lanky – front AND back! Every time Lanky visits Bunny’s Place, Cleo would be on hand for a fiery war-cry battle. This...

Indy’s Updates
18th May 2019, by AnimalCare

Indy was feeling a little low today. In fact, he started feeling a little “not his usual robust and Super-Indy” self last night. I guess after the initial euphoria and numbness of the extraction sites wore out, pain would have set in and it is totally understandable that one wouldn’t feel so good. If I had seven teeth extracted, I wouldn’t be feeling on top of the world too. So, it took some coaxing to get Indy to eat today. He didn’t care much for AD or any “...

Blanket No 215 – Intan Raya!
17th May 2019, by AnimalCare

One of our longest donor and supporter ordered a blanket as a Hari Raya surprise for a community feeder.  She requested the blanket to be “bright, happy and cheerful” and said batik would be good. So, we started working on it… This will be the main motif. Heidi approves! Zurik supervised. Ginger says anything with orange is always good. It’s a happy colour, like his! It’s done!!  I remember our donor likes “frames”! Hope this is “br...

And How Is Our Super-Indy??
17th May 2019, by AnimalCare

I woke up this morning, came downstairs quickly to check on Indy and got a mini shock of my life when I could not find him anywhere at all! Last night, I left him on the chair and this morning, that same chair looked like it had turned a somersault and landed 180 degrees off. Then…. …Cow alerted me. Here’s here… Where, Cow? Here!! Haha….what are you doing in the vegetable pot, Indy?!! I went to feed Zurik and the Blanket Cats first and as I was washing up, Co...
