Neutering Aid For 1 Dog In Kuala Linggi, Melaka (Edwin Sam Keat Song’s) 27th May 2019, by AnimalCare
We have provided an aid of RM100 for the neutering of this dog.
This is the story of the dog:
Wolf was found when she was still approximately 1-month-old nearby a shipyard in Kuala Linggi. Because the shipyard is facing a main road where cars will be speeding, she is at risk of being run&n bsp;over by cars. Unfortunately a couple of her siblings were already died because of that. We had to take her in. She is currentlyfostered by...

Indy On The Ledge Again 27th May 2019, by AnimalCare
But this morning, I climbed up to carry him down.
He went up the ledge, then he came down on his own and I quickly gave him his fish oil and Tramadol. Then, he went back up without eating. So I climbed up and carried him down so that he could eat. It took a lot of coaxing, but I managed to get him to eat.
Maybe getting up on the ledge is all a game for Indy?
He is sleeping now.

Zurik’s Updates 26th May 2019, by AnimalCare
It’s been 4 days since Zurik’s steroid dosage tapered down to 2.5mg once a day. I must admit that I’m anxious about this. I was told to watch his breathing and I’ve been doing this, but my untrained eye isn’t sure whether there are changes to his breathing pattern. He has always had a bit of laboured breathing since he was diagnosed with FIP, but it had not been “bad” lately, especially since there had been no fluid build-up for the last 19 days as of l...

Indy’s Deal 25th May 2019, by AnimalCare
He did it again this morning….
Indy: I’m not coming down unless you give me kibble.
And he meant business, because he stayed up there for almost an hour, until…
…he got his kibble with water.
And I decided to let him finish before giving him his Tramadol and fish oil, but…
…he was faster than me!
Indy: I’m not called Indy Jones, Batman, Zorro, Spider-Cat, Dr Strange, Crash Bandicoot, etc. for nothing, you know.

Zurik And The Blanket Cats (the Staring Game) 24th May 2019, by AnimalCare
Zurik’s breakfast pattern is such that he will have his raw chicken fillet and kibble (not the world’s best combination, but it’s the best I can do for him since he needs a high protein diet and he loves kibble), then he will have his morning medicines (steroids (now only once a day), Vetri DMG, RetroMAD1, B Complex and fish oil). After that, he will come back for his reward, which is Cindy’s Salmon Recipe kibble.
Zurik likes Cindy’s more than Solid Gold’s Ind...

Indy On Ledge 24th May 2019, by AnimalCare
After returning from the vet’s yesterday, Indy ate quite a lot, all on his own.
But this morning, he decided to do the ledge thing again.
He was sitting on the shelf in the garden when I approached him with his breakfast. That’s when he ran away and jumped onto the ledge….again, exactly like yesterday.
Indy, please come down for breakfast!
Indy: NO!
So I left him alone and fed everyone else.
It took about 40 minutes before he decided to come down, at the “invitation&rd...

Feeding The Fire (without Burning Out) 23rd May 2019, by AnimalCare
A long, but good article: https://www.animalsheltering.org/mag azine/articles/feeding-fire-without-burning-out
T his is a good article for everyone in animal caring work.
For me personally, I don’t think I am “burnt out” by having to care for my cats even when they have terminal or debilitating diseases. I am also not burnt out fundraising to keep AnimalCare going.
But I can be potentially burnt out by….rude and unreasonable applicants! So, ...

Indy’s Fine (7 Days After The Extraction) 23rd May 2019, by AnimalCare
I took Indy along for a check-up today, with Zurik.
Last night Indy started eating quite a lot of canned food, which was all good, but this morning, he jumped up onto the ledge (Cleo’s observation ledge where she does all her battles with intruders) and refused to come down for breakfast.
He was up there for almost an hour. Even spraying him with the water spray did not manage to get him down. So, he skipped breakfast entirely.
I was concerned about this and I also wanted his eye ulcer to ...
