How Time Flies 21st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
I just couldn't help taking these photo this morning: It is Cow and Tiger. And now, turning the clock back to five years ago....That's Cow looking after Tiger when he was first brought to me (supposedly for fostering, but the rescuers never took him back).Cow was my rescue (along with siblings Bunny and Pole), picked up by the roadside on 8th May 2006. Tiger was sent to me in August 2006. Bobby looked after Tiger and protected him from the elder cats, but later, Cow became Tiger's ment...

Be Wary Of Fraudulent Emails 21st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
This post has nothing to do with animals, but I thought some people might want to know about fraudulent emails supposedly sent by our banks. A few days ago, I received an email from m2u. It looked absolutely authentic, EXACTLY like the usual email alert from m2u informing you that someone had banked in a certain amount into your account. Pls see below. The email said a Goh Chin Chay had banked in RM200 into my personal MBB account for Victorine (Jacinta and Kelly's shelter in Ipoh, th...

The Appalling Extent Of Human Cruelty 21st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Wani called me yesterday regarding this case:http://malaysiandogsdeservebetter.blogspot.co m/2011/07/evil-human-who-cut-off-this-dogs-nose.ht mlSomeone had lopped off the poor dog's nose. I hope that someone can be found and his heinous crime reported to the DVS. But the maximum fine is only RM200. I'm going to visit the dog today since Karuna is at the same clinic. Let's send positive thoughts to the dog and pray that he will be strong. Also, to the dog's mother who was cryin...

Updates On Stuart 21st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Devi texted last night to say someone sent her milk for Stuart but it isn't Pets Own Milk. She did not mention the brand, but I hope it is suitable for Stuart. However, she said Stuart did not want to take the milk. Not drinking is a very worrisome sign for little kittens. They go down very quickly. Yesterday, Punitha had already found a volunteer fosterer who was willing to drive all the way to Brickfields to pick up Stuart, foster him until he is stronger and return him to Devi, but...

PJ Old Town Cat Spayed 21st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Teresa Chian called a few weeks back about getting 4 cats spayed. These cats apparently were being looked after by an Indonesian worker who would be leaving the country the very next day or so. Now, three of them have been adopted, and there is only one left.Teresa sent the remaining one for spaying under our sponsorship. Hope this cat gets adopted as well.

Female Cat Spayed (the One Who Got Away Previously) 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Amy Tham has been helping Mrs Lim, the owner of a dry-cleaners, to catch the cats in her shop area for spay-neuter. Last week, they were targeting a female cat, but a male got nabbed instead, and that male was neutered. Finally, this morning, the elusive female was caught and sent for spaying under our sponsorship. Hmm...so the elusive one is a Calico? No wonder...And yesterday, Ah Fatt also texted me to ask if we could sponsor the spaying of two female cats, both just rescued. &...

Tiger, Back In His Baby Basket 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
The Sunny Kittens were adopted on 18th June. While they were with me, they had conveniently taken over Tiger's baby basket. Tiger is the Gandhi in my household. He is a total believer in Ahimsa (non-violence) - He never fights back. If Cow and Bunny threatens to attack him, which they sometimes do, he would just close his eyes real tight and not move. Somehow, it works. The two alpha-bullies back off after awhile. No thrill in threatening Tiger - he never fights back! Hence, Tiger doe...

An Offer To Help Stuart 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/07/urge nt-devi-needs-help-to-buy-milk-for.htmlI texted Nandhini and Punitha to see if there's any way we could offer help for Devi since Stuart is having the same symptoms as Cindy.Punitha actually managed to get three fosterers for the kittens that day, but this was AFTER Devi had already adopted the kittens. So, Punitha called the fosterers and one of them offered to drive to Brickfields, take over Stuart, nurse him until recovery and return hi...

Indy Found! Safe And Sound. 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
You tell me if cats have a sixth sense.....My plan was to take Indy to the vet's for his vaccination after I'm done with Pole and Cleo. I saw him under a car and I thought to myself, "Indy, afterwards, I'll take you."When I came home, he was no where to be found. He had completely disappeared. Then I had Weiwen's case so off I went to the vet's again and I told the vet I could not find Indy anywhere. We even joked that he must have gone into hiding. It soon turned out to ...

Indy's Missing 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
I had planned to take Indy for his vaccination after I brought Pole and Cleo back, and I saw him under the neighbour's car when I left the house. After I came home this morning, until now, I have not been able to find Indy at all. I have walked up and down the road and looked into drains, he is no where to be found. It's been many hours now. Indy normally sleeps on top of the car in the porch. I'm really worried.Indy, please come home. I promise I will not take you to...

A Young Rescuer With 4 Kittens 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Szetoo Weiwen wrote yesterday, asking if she could bring four rescued kittens for a check-up at our vet's. This is Weiwen's first time doing kitten rescue. She writes:I was at a funeral last Thursday in Setia Alam and on the way back to my car I found the kittens in a box thrown beside a pile of rubbish outside a house. I asked the house owner about them and he got angry and said I can take them if I wanted.I brought them home and fed them and every evening brought them back to that ...

Pole And Cleo To The Vet's 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
I failed to give Pole and Cleo their dewormer so it's off to the vet's today.Cleo was happily lounging upstairs. I had to take her and put her into the carrier. So sorry, Cleo. Cow (who is Cleo's uncle) watches closely. Then, I went out to call for Pole. Cow and Bunny had driven their sister, Pole, out of the house shortly after she had given birth and her kittens had weaned off. The vets say these things happen because Pole's scent may have changed and they no longer know it's ...

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Every single day, I say a little prayer to thank all my guardian angels and the universal Law of Karma for bringing genuine rescuers, caring animal-feeders, well-wishers and supporters to AnimalCare because without them, there would be no AnimalCare and we would not have the opportunity to help these animals. But once in a blue moon, we get strange characters. Here's one....1. This person contacted me on 7th July, which was the day I had the all-day event in my college, so I had...

Sad News - Cindy Is Gone 20th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Devi texted me yesterday morning with the sad news that Cindy had passed away. If you recall, Cindy and Stuart are the two kittens we were desperately trying to find a fosterer/adopter for because the rescuer was going to send them to the shelter. Shelters have a policy of putting down very young kittens and puppies because they will probably not survive in the shelter environment. Cindy and Stuart were only 3 weeks old. The first person who responded to our race against time t...

Manja, A Community Cat, Attacked 19th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, CP was quite worried all morning when Manja, the oldest cat in her colony of three, had not returned for breakfast. She drove all round the neighbourhood searching for Manja but she was nowhere to be found. After many hours, Manja came back, injured and battlescarred. CP brought Manja to our panel vet for treatment. Poor Manja had wounds on her face and head. There was also bleeding at her vulva and anus. Poor, poor Manja. She has already...
