Updates On Brownie - Blood Count Is 2.8 (that's Good!) 2nd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Winnie visited Brownie again this evening. The blood test results are promising - Brownie's white blood count is now 2.8! That's quite significant, but it still has to normalize to 6.0. Brownie ate by himself again this evening, which is really good.I've just checked with Dr Tan and he said he had given enough RetroMad1 for 7 days, so Brownie would have enough till then. We're all still praying hard for Brownie to recover fully. Whatever we have seen so far is promising.Keep praying, f...

Taking Karuna For A Walk, Etc. 2nd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
After visiting Brownie, I drove back to Subang Jaya to visit Karuna. The temple administrator said Karuna has been barking all day yesterday. And, apparently, a wild dog had come into the temple grounds yesterday. Harsha said that was the dog who had bitten Karuna. Harsha will keep an eye on this. I cleaned up Karuna's place, and Samma (Harsha's friend) brought some rice for Karuna. Her appetite, as usual, is great! Yum, yum...dana food. I also bought her a can of dogfood, so I adde...

Visiting Brownie This Morning 2nd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
I drove down to PJ to visit Brownie this morning and managed to speak with the vet. He said Brownie is "slightly better", has not vomited or had any diarrhoea (yay!) and the prognosis is now better. Brownie also ate by himself this morning. He is still on the RetroMad1, but according to the vet, Brownie had already started improving even before the drug was administered. The drips had helped. For us, we are not so interested as to which treatment or medicine helped - we just want Brownie to...

"Do We Have A Choice?" (new Book!) 2nd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
I have written a new book, entitled "Do we Have a Choice?". It has 19 chapters and 18 are dedicated to encouraging the reader to EAT LESS MEAT; not become a vegetarian, but just to EAT LESS MEAT. One chapter talks about other forms of cruelty like vivisection, etc. The book has been reviewed by two people, and they have found it to be "non-dictative and non-condemning" (which I'm glad for as it was written in that manner too!).I already have a sponsor for the book and we will be going to print a...

Injured Mother-Dog From Klang (Joanne's Rescue) 2nd Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Joanne Lim called me on Friday evening (I was actually watching Harry Potter at that time!), requesting urgent help for an injured dog. I texted in the dark (trying not to let the light from my phone disturb the person next to me!) and had arranged for Joanne to bring the dog to our panel vet, but traffic was bad and Joanne was in Klang. Our vet was also closing already. So, Joanne called MDDB and currently the dog is at MDDB's vet. Joanne has requested financial assistance to help in the cost o...

Apparently, she had already brought them to her vet earlier but the diarrhoea did not improve. So, Maslinda and her student brought the two kittens this morning; Lulu and Mabu. Mabu was very thin but seemed okay, but Lulu looked weak and emaciated. Maslinda said they started having diarrhoea on Thursday when she gave them small amoun...

Every small step is a milestone for Brownie, and a huge relief for us all.Great news from Winnie this evening:Hi Kah Yein,I got here about 630pm despite the jam. Luckily the vet allows me to see Brownie. I brought a small towel to wipe her face & body. His fever has gone down. Good sign!! He is eating on his own. The worker there gave me a can of wet food to feed him. He ate a little on his own as shown in the photo. I asked the vet about his condition, he said too early to tell. Anyway, let...

Brownie Is In Bad Shape - Please Send Prayers 31st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
I was at the vet's in PJ with Citta, and Brownie is boarding there as well. But I was not allowed to see Brownie as that's the clinic's policy (they had closed for the day). The vet who attended to Brownie said the prognosis is bad. Brownie's white blood count is only 0.8. Anything under 1.0 is very bad.Brownie is now on drips. There is no force-feeding as it might make the condition even worse. As I drove home, I checked with our vet and he concurs that force-feeding might be detrimental on the f...

Citta Caught - Safe And Sound! 31st Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Myers called saying Citta had been spotted at the playground behind the clinic. So I drove over quickly. By the time I reached, Myers said Citta had bolted towards the shopping mall. Gosh, she has crossed the mainroad again! This was about 6.30pm and it was peak hour traffic. I drove over to the shopping mall and there was Citta, right there at the parking lot. She was very restless and clearly, she was trying to get back to the clinic. But traffic was SO bad and she was very scared.&n...

We drove around the area again to look for Citta. Did not sight her anywhere. However, the food has been eaten....The vet had put Citta's favourite canned food in the steel bowl. It's empty now, but we can't be sure if Citta ate it. The kibbles have been touched as well.Wani is bringing Citta's mother to help look for her. I have to go to the clinic again now.Updates later... UPDATES at 5.45pm: I met the vet at the clinic. Two volunteers, Myers and Colin, were also there to help. ...
