Zurik Is….STABLE!!!!! 31st May 2019, by AnimalCare
I couldn’t wait until 10 days.
Today is the 9th day since Zurik’s steroid dosage was halved and I was already too anxious, so we took Zurik for his check-up. It’s just one day earlier. Beat the weekend jam – that’s my excuse! But I was actually very anxious and wanted to be sure that the half dosage of steroids was doing its job.
Zurik was so good during the entire check-up.
First, it was an all around physical and some questions about his wellbein...

As We Step Into Our Eleventh Year, We Have Good News! 31st May 2019, by AnimalCare
As we step into our eleventh year, we have good news for all CNRM applicants!!
Since the end of last year, we “graduated” many serial claimants and informed the TNR-ers that we are no longer able to help them sustain their big scale and long-term (never ending) work of just neutering and releasing without the continued management and looking after of the animals for life. As a result of this graduation, we now have some extra funds saved from the last few months.
As always, these fun...

We Are TEN Years Old Today!!! 31st May 2019, by AnimalCare
TEN years and counting…..!!
The day it started….31st May 2009.
I held a cardboard box and told friends at the temple that we wanted to help in the neutering of street animals. I quietly hoped we could do 10 animals per year, but we ended up doing 660 animals in our first year! It’s all thanks to the generosity, support and trust of friends.
We worked hard to raise funds and participated in as many events as we could. My gratitude goes to all our early-day volunteers. Thank...

How The Mother-Octopus Guards Her Eggs 30th May 2019, by AnimalCare
The incredible video:
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uploads /2019/05/octopuses.mp4
There is so much we can learn about and from the octopus and how they live their lives.
For example, they have 3 hearts and 9 brains!
The mother guards the eggs for 50 months during which time she does not eat. When the eggs hatch, she dies.
Here’s an article about the octopus: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini ons/just-how-smart-is-an-octopus/2017/01/06/a2f1ed 22-acd0-11e6-8b45-f8e493f06fcd_st...

Dear Dr. Chan,
Please find attached. I found this dog around an industrial area near Taman Ehsan. I have fed this dog for a while now before bringing it for neutering. After neutering, a factory near where I found her has agreed to place her there and give her daily meals in the morning while I will feed the dog at night. May I proceed with the posting? Thanks.

Vaccination Aid For 1 Cat In Pandan Indah (Farah Diana Bt Abdul Fuad’s) 28th May 2019, by AnimalCare
We have provided an aid of RM25 for the vaccination of this cat.
Ms Farah applied for two cats, but we were unable to provide our aid for the other cat (Zeus, whose first vaccination we aided in) because the booster was done 6 weeks after the first vaccination. Our policies state clearly that the interval between the two vaccinations must be not more than 30 days. The reason Zeus was vaccinated two weeks late is that he was neutered when he was supposed to be vaccinated. We understan...

Small Is Beautiful (burn-Out Recognised By WHO As Medical Condition) 28th May 2019, by AnimalCare
The article: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/worl d/2019/05/28/who-recognizes-burnout-as-medical-con dition/
In caring for rescued animals, we always suggest to keep it at a manageable level so that caregivers do not inadvertently suffer from burn-out.
Some caregivers do not know when to stop or say “no”. They keep taking in more and more animals and this can lead to burn-out or worse, hoarding.
Do not suffer from burn-out because if you do, there would be no one to look after t...

Zurik’s Hide-And-Seek Games 27th May 2019, by AnimalCare
For two days now, Zurik has been playing hide-and-seek games with me.
This morning, for example, I looked all over for him and could not find him until I almost went into panic mode. And finally where was he?
He was just sitting quietly on top of this box.
I looked everywhere but did not think of looking here! And while I was calling for him all over the house like a mad woman, he just sat there, quietly, watching me.
I guess that’s his game?
Then, this evening, I REALLY went into panic m...
