Cat-In-The-Box! 15th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Who is this cat-in-the-box??
Surely it’s Heidi, right? Heidi loves sleeping in boxes.
Or maybe it’s Tabs?
Look closer…
It’s….Mr Zurik!!
It’s really nice to see him being curious and “kitteny”!
For the past one week, though, Mr Zurik has been exhibiting a rather strange behaviour. It would suddenly jerk away and zoom off. It can happen before he eats, or while he is eating (but not always) or it can just happen anytime. I mentioned it to ...

Bunny And Indy To Vet’s (SDMA Down!) 15th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Today, Bunny and Indy also tagged along to the vet’s with Zurik. For the two of them, it’s their 2-month’s review.
Both Bunny and Indy was discovered to have early kidney degeneration two months ago. Bunny’s SDMA was 18 (high) while Indy’s was 15 (borderline high). For the last two months, both were on their usual diet, but their kibble snack was changed to RC Renal kibble. Both were also given 200ml subcut twice a week.
Today, an ultrasound of the kidneys wer...

Zurik’s Check-Up – Too Little Fluids! 15th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Today is Zurik’s check-up.
The vet did a very thorough ultrasound on both lung cavities and the abdomen.
As before, the left lung cavity has no fluids. The right has some tiny pockets of fluids, but it was even less than before! The abdomen has a small spot of fluids, but it was an insignificant amount. No aspiration was needed. This is already 42 days since the last aspiration!
So, all is well for Zurik.
The vet says we can do a further reduction of the steroids to half dose (2.5mg) every...

Updates From A CNRM-Er On His Colony (Po Ye Koon’s) 14th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
We are always very grateful when any applicant sends us updates and news about her/his work and the neutered animals in her/his colony.
Mr Po Ye Koon is a new CNRMer. When he first applied for our aid, we explained the concept of CNRM and how our funds would only be channeled to applicants who will continue to look after all the neutered animals.
Mr Po’s colony is the area around a coffee shop and the neighbouring shops. It’s a manageable area as it is not too big.
“Keep it sma...

The Day Heidi’s Tunnel Was Defiled….by Ginger(?) 13th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Yesterday was a sad day for Heidi.
Someone had sprayed massively on her tunnel.
We think it’s Ginger.
So, for half a day, she had no tunnel to play in. It had to be washed and sunned dry.
Why do we think it’s Ginger, you may ask? Well, because there are only two males in the living room – Ginger and Zurik. Zurik hasn’t been spraying at all. He pees in the bathroom (we have seen this many, many times – he uses the drainhole). Ginger has been caught spraying too many ...

Zurik’s Two Months’ Milestone 13th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Today is two months since Zurik was diagnosed with FIP on 13th April 2019.
I was told by a few vets that “two months” is a milestone for FIP patients.
Zurik is eating well, alert and active. He also looks menacing again with his classic KGB-look!
This weekend is Zurik’s check-up.
There…the menacing KGB-eyes that say: “Don’t mess with me.”
We are very thankful for each day that Zurik is as well as he can be!

The Orifera Virgin Coconut Oil Soap (price Revision) 11th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
The Orifera VCO Soap has been one of our best-selling products since November 2012.
We started selling it at RM5 back then. It increased to RM6, and then to RM7, but we managed to lower it again to RM6 last year.
Now, due to the rising costs in everything (!), we have to revise the price to RM7 again.
This increase will be effective on 15th June 2019.
If you’d like to order before the price increase, please do write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com to place your order before 15th June 2019.

Ginger…cornered!! 11th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
You know how Zurik and Ginger aren’t exactly the best of friends right from Day One?
And now, they have to live together, so there are often standoffs between them.
Nothing serious, though. Thankfully.
Today, Ginger got himself cornered…
Zurik: Hahaha….I’ve got you cornered, your orange fluff!!
Bunny: Good work, Zurik! Hahaha…..but wait, are we allies now?
Zurik decided peace would be better. No standoff necessary today.
Yes, peace is always better.

Zurik’s Hide-And-Seek Games 10th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Zurik is either in plain sight or he plays hide-and-seek games with me.
Lately, it has been the latter. Remember the storeroom episode? That really got me panicked.
This morning, he played hide-and-seek with me again. It was breakfast time, but he was nowhere to be found. This time, I was very sure he hadn’t escaped out of the house. So I went all round to look for him and REALLY, I could not find him at all.
But since I was doubly sure he hadn’t escaped, I wasn’t worried. So ...

Bunny’s Trips Out To The Patio 10th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare
Bunny often gets trips out to the patio.
But whenever he comes out, Ginger, Heidi and Zurik at at risk of being attacked and screamed at in a war-cry battle. Even though Bunny is 80% blind, he can still smell them out and sometimes, he can actually “see”.
Heidi is terrified of Bunny and will steer clear out of his way. But Ginger…that is still a problem. We still cannot determine if Ginger won’t run because (1) he is so clueless and thinks the whole world is good OR (2) ...
