Sorry Folks, It's A Hoax 22nd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
It is amazing what the developed minds of us humans can do. While some do great things that benefit everyone and make the world a better place, some have nothing better to do than to create mischief by making up stories that are not true. I posted this yesterday morning: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/09/ not-all-heroes-are-humansand-rightly-so.htmlSomeon e alerted me that it is actually a hoax - thank you for doing this. Please see this: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/dais...

A Last Word On The "Photos, Photos Everywhere" 21st Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
Tan Lay Khim has already apologised for doing what she did, and I believe it was done without any malicious intentions. In fact, she wrote saying if Cow's photo had won any prize, she had intended to donate it to our fund. I appreciate her intentions, but wished she had asked first and credited the source. A final word, if I may....Should anyone want to use anything from this blog, from my books, CDs or powerpoint slides, could you please1. Ask.2. Give credit to the source. If you wish to f...

The Blueys Go For A Car Trip Again....to The Vets! 21st Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
The Blueys' potential adopter is coming all the way from Seremban tomorrow to see them. Of course, as always, I have mixed feelings about letting them go. But I cannot adopt them for a few reasons. Six is about all that we (the human family) can handle. My adult cats, especially Cow and Bunny, has this tendency of chasing cats around the age of 5-6 months UNLESS the cats can establish their space and find their place in the house - I cannot control this; it's dependent on the cats' personality. ...

Photos, Photos, Photos...everywhere 21st Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
During the Pet Boarding fiasco, Maslinda informed me that photos were just being uplifted from my blog and published in mainstream newspapers. I did not receive any letter or phonecall or whatever, asking permission if the photos could be used. Some of the photos were taken by Maslinda and I credit her in my blog, but when published in these mainstream newspapers and online newspapers, no credit was given. Then, yesterday, someone, out of good faith, informed me that my photograph with Indy...

True Heroes Of 9/11 21st Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
September will always be a month we remember the dreadful 9/11 incident where the world witnessed a terrifying event, all because of our own folly of NOT being able to understand that are are one and the same. So, while humans suffered tremendous pain and loss in this tragedy, some of our furry friends helped make this suffering a little lighter by doing what they know best - to obey and make us happy. These are the dogs who were used as rescue "workers" during the 9/11 tragedy. I h...

Ginger, Another Miracle Case 20th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
This was Ginger on 20th August...Our vet took a swab and suspected it was Cryptococcosis. The treatment would be Itraconazole, so since he did not have any, I redirected Peggy Tiong (Ginger's rescuer) to our other panel vet, who then, diagnosed it as either mastcell cancer or an allergy.Either one, the treatment would be the same - Prednisolone injection, antibiotic injection and to help with the sores, Socoseryl eye-gel.Peggy applied the eye-gel daily and looked after Ginger so well....and now....

Indy's Urine Test 20th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
While I was at the vet's to settle our bills, I spoke to the vet about Indy's case and was advised to do a repeat blood test.If you remember, more than a month ago (10th August), Indy's blood test showed a slight elevation in the immuno-globulins but his kidney results were normal. His urine showed the presence of some protein when tested at the clinic, but was nil when tested at the lab. The reason I was worried about Indy, which prompted me to take him for a check-up, was his excessive drinkin...

What A Long, Long Day 20th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
This morning started off with a kitten-fosterer texting me for help. She has no prior experience in looking after kittens but had offered herself as a fosterer for a family of kittens, which is admirable. However, she was really worried because one kitten was having loose stools and another "wasn't moving". I told her to quickly send the kittens to a vet for a proper diagnosis or contact the people who asked her to foster, to get help for her. She said she did not have their contact numbers...

Orange Cat, Blondie, IS Pregnant After All 19th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
Two weeks ago, Kar Bin brought two female cats to be spayed under our sponsorship. Ref: http://www.myanimalcar e.org/2011/08/1-cat-spayed-another-not-yet-teh-kar .htmlOne was spayed but the other had signs of possible pregnancy (I wonder why there is no urine test for feline pregnancy!), ie. "marbles" in her abdomen. Since it is in our policy that we do NOT spay pregnant cats, the vet advised Kar Bin to take Blondie (the orange one) back and bring back in two weeks, which was today.Wel...

I'm pleased to inform that my rescued Terrier, whom I temporarily named Harriot, has been adopted by a wonderful expatriate family who has been in Malaysia for at least a decade. Their 2 young children have been bugging the parents for a dog but the parents held back until they could purchase a landed property with a garden...
