Callie's Updates (Pet Boarding Cruelty Case)
2nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

Since I was at the same hospital, I popped in to visit Callie after Mickey was discharged.Callie is still on drips, so I did not want to open her cage and disturb her lest the drip gets all entangled. Callie was already moving very excitedly. Spoke to the vet, and he said Callie is fine except for the diarrhoea which is really bad.Callie has put on weight from the last I saw her skeletal self. She is also active and was so happy to have a visitor. Poor Callie is under isolation and must be f...

Dogfood For Pak Din's Puppies
2nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

I highlighted Pak Din's plight a few months ago: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/08/help ing-pak-din.html when it was brought to my attention by Chew.Pak Din is an elderly gentlemanly living in a shack in Gombak. Out of the kindness of his heart and despite his own difficulties, he looks after the neighbourhood dogs and cats by feeding them, taking them to the vet when sick and he even gets them spayed and neutered. In the last count, he had about 9 dogs (1 mother-dog and 8 puppi...

The Blueys Get A Feather
2nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

We bought a feather for the Blueys today...and they had a ball!We first played with them in the usual way...and after WE got tired, they took over the feather and created their own "catch me if you can" game. There were even rules - if one has got the feather, they other would not be allowed to snatch it away. The other could only watch. Who created the rules? I think it's more like Bagheera wanted to play, and Baloo decided to give in and let her play!  It's mine, it's mine! Okay...

1st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

The moment we've all been waiting and praying for....Mickey the Miracle gets to go home today!!!Mickey was brought in just 5 days ago because he had stopped urinating. Upon examination, the vet suspected a ruptured bladder. Surgery was done where a catheter was inserted into his bladder to enable urination. The rupture was near the end of the urinary tract at a precarious position. Septicaemia had already set in because urine had accumulated inside the body. Mickey was put on drips and given ant...

Ben, Brother Of Burt, Comes In For A Check-Up
1st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

When Norshidah brought Burt in for a check-up and found that he had sporotrichosis, she told me Burt has a brother who is very close to him and this brother, Ben, also has similar-looking wounds.  This afternoon, Nor brought Ben to the same vet (the one who is treating Burt). Burt was so happy to see his brother, and made a lot of noise. We're really pleased to hear (and see) that some of Burt's sporo wounds have dried up - this is fast! Only that stubborn one near the nose is stil...
